Boone Logan - $2.5M guaranteed

The constant line? Literally no one has said that in this thread. In fact, the opposite. Louis even pointed out that the game was in fact lost because of offensive struggles, and I even agreed with him.

Great. Glad you two are on board with scoring more runs. Guess you missed the IGT yesterday and all those comments. You must love conflict. Literally no reason for you to jump at me over anything I said.

#1, as you and I both know, the IGT is always based on spur of the moment reactions, #2, why are you posting those offensive concerns here then in the Logan thread?

#3, sorry you feel jumped on over this and that I am seeking conflict. Didn't think that pointing out that we were all just discussing Logan's future as is appropriate in this thread and mentioning no one was saying Counsell cost us the game here was really all that bad.

Agreed that IGT are usually hot takes. And it was just a comment to point out that our offense is much more of the overall problem than a Boone Logan is. If they ever figure out how to be consistent, I’m not sure what we will even have to complain about around here. I also did respond with an explanation as to why we probably saw Boone get an opportunity yesterday. It might be his last in those types of situations depending on how far Stearns/Counsell want to keep going down this hole when there are obviously better options.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Well, Counsell was asked yesterday about putting Logan in lesser roles and he basically said that no he can't do that, that if Logan is going to be here he needs to do his job and get those outs.

It was about as openly critical as I've heard Counsell get to the media anoutva player. Makes me wonder how many more chances he has left.

This signing does frost me, since the Crew did have Wei-Chung Wang on the 40-man, who could be doing as well as Logan, and was a lot younger and cheaper, to boot!

Younger, but just as crappy?... PASS....

Would saving $2 million have been a bad thing?

Saving $2M would not have been a bad thing but there are other options if they want to look internally at filling that role. Ramirez and Torres-Costa come to mind. Wang just isn't very good. He is/was a completely different pitcher stuff-wise than the guy we took a chance on in the Rule 5 years ago.

Logan is a lot like many MLB relievers, erratic from year to year

Slight problem with that, he left the country. With the way rotating bullpens work these days, Wang certainly would have had a shot at some point. Obviously he wasn't committed to MLB. That's fine, his decision, but you can't say the Brewers somehow passed on him.
