3. Delmon Young, of, Camarillo (Calif.) HS - Dmitri's little brother has been raking in games and private workouts for the Rays of late

 

4. Ryan Harvey, of, Dunedin (Fla.) HS - Bounced back from last fall's knee injury to become darkhorse candidate for No. 1 pick

 

5. Kyle Sleeth, rhp, Wake Forest - Trying not to get dragged down by a disappointing season for the Deacons

 

6. Tim Stauffer, rhp, Richmond - Four plus pitches with above-average command, but a rough start against North Carolina

 

7. Jeff Allison, rhp, Veterans Memorial (Mass.) HS -Quickly becoming the best prep pitching prospect by far, according to an AL crosschecker

 

8. Chris Lubanski, of, Kennedy-Kenrick (Pa.) HS - In a 10-for-11 doubleheader outburst, hit for two cycles in combined games

 

9. Michael Aubrey, 1b, Tulane - Defense might be a question, but some predict .500-.600 slugging in the bigs

 

10. Nick Markakis, lhp, Young Harris (Ga.) JC - Reds want to sign him, but price goes up as he deals on the mound and rakes at the plate

 

11. Lastings Milledge, of, Lakewood Ranch HS, Fla. -He's the classic high-risk, high-reward pick and has thrived in front of scouts against top competition

 

12. Andrew Miller, lhp, Buchholz (Fla.) HS -Inconsistency with delivery and velocity have knocked down preseason top prep pitcher

 

13. Marc Cornell, rhp, Ohio U. - Shaky health record and recent shoulder woes might be enough to scare top 10 teams away

 

14. John Danks, lhp, Round Rock (Texas) HS -Recovered from early outings without his best stuff and now could be first southpaw drafted

 

15. Ian Stewart, 3b, La Quinta (Calif.) HS - Outhomered by teammate Cole Garner, but has the bat scouts look for in the first round

 

16. Ryan Wagner, rhp, Houston - Dominating closer has two unhittable pitches and could break 40-year-old mark for K/9

 

17. Craig Whitaker, rhp, Lufkin (Texas) HS - After he hit 98 mph, his next start "looked like the Academy Awards" because everyone was there

 

18. Paul Maholm, lhp, Mississippi State - The 2003 version of Joe Saunders; Maholm has become the top pitcher in the SEC

 

19. Vince Sinisi, 1b, Rice - Earns comparisons to Lance Berkman, but Boras factor and sophomore status drives down his stock

 

20. Brad Sullivan, rhp, Houston - Has helped struggling team by playing first and second, but he's had bad luck on the mound

 

21. Eric Duncan, 3b, Seton Hall (N.J.) Prep - Hitting his way into the first round, often in front of New Jersey native Omar Minaya

 

22. Matt Murton, of, Georgia Tech - Having a down year at the plate coming off two big seasons in the Cape Cod League

 

23. Aaron Hill, ss, Louisiana State - Best player on SEC's best team is attractive to both performance- and tools-driven clubs

 

24. Ryan Sweeney, of, Xavier (Iowa) HS - Without a high school season, relies on workouts like the one at the scouting director's meetings in Texas

 

25. Matt Moses, ss, Mills Goodwin (Va.) HS - After not making the summer rounds in showcases, he could sneak into the middle of the first round

 

26. Brad Snyder, of, Ball State - Serious car wreck in June 2001 won't hamper his prospects in June 2003

 

27. Carlos Quentin, of, Stanford - An adjustment at the plate triggered a 26-game hitting streak that got scouts' attention

 

28. Conor Jackson, 3b, California - Delivered three homers and eight RBIs in big set with Stanford, though Bears were swept

 

29. David Murphy, of, Baylor - Like Hill and Murton, you get plenty of tools for scouts to like along with good performance

 

30. Jay Sborz, rhp, Langley (Va.) HS - Consistently 92-95 mph, touching 96 and mowing down the competition
