Christian Yelich

I think I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that this is going to involve one of Brinson, Hiura and Harrison (probably Brinson) and one of Woodruff, Burnes and Ortiz, and I'm OK with that. However if that is the case, I hope that any additional prospects dealt don't come from that group or the Phillips, Diaz, Erceg, Ray, Grisham, Peralta, Lutz group.

I agree that you look at these guys in tiers. One of Woodruff/Burns/Ortiz is acceptable. One of Hiura/Brinson is acceptable (not sure why Harrison would be in that group though). Positional strength gets taken into account also so if Hiura is involved, Diaz is not, for instance.

You would be OK with Brinson + Burnes? Wow, that's crazy to me.

Why so? Brinson is going and of Woodruff/Burns/Ortiz, Burns is the guy I let go of and I'm not sure it's difficult.

I think the deal is going to be Harrison, Burnes and a rookie-level kid like Lemons. No inside info, just a gut feeling.

If the reports about the Marlins asking the Braves for Acuna are correct then Brinson is in this deal if it happens.

Losing Burnes would be tough, but I've got a feeling the Brewers don't get Yelich without two from that group of six, and of the other five (assuming Brinson is dealt), I think I'd rather deal Burnes than Hiura, Harrison and Woodruff. I'd prefer it be Ortiz (the upside is still there, but he seems to have the most obstacles to achieving it of the pitching trio), but that is dependent on what the Marlins think of Ortiz.

Why on earth does every made up offer on these boards always includes Isan Diaz? Geez, it's maddening.

I agree. How quickly people forget. Diaz was the team's 2016 Minor League Player of the Year, and is still extremely young. He is a Blue Chip prospect! He's arguably more athletic than Hiura, and has a better power profile. Plus, we have no idea if Hiura can stick at 2B, and he has injury concerns. He is by no means a "can't miss" prospect.

Having two high-end 2B prospects is a great position to be in. Actually, its three if you throw in Dubon.

I'd go Brinson, Bickford, and Dubon for Yelich and Castro. Castro wants out of Miami, and I'm perfectly happy to take him off their hands for a discount in the prospects offered.

The max I would give for Yelich? Brinson, either Diaz or Hiura, either Ortiz or Woodruff. If the marlins don't like that, walk away.

I'd say that's probably about accurate with what the actual proposal is. We might need to throw in another guy or two but they would be much lower level prospects (#20-#30 type guys). I can't see Stearns giving up more than that for just Yelich at this point...

I'll be in the Molitor Lot by the Corn Hole with a Colt 45 and 2 Zig-Zags.

It seems too steep for me.

Brinson/Woodruff alone is fine.

I'd rather do Brinson, Bickford, and Dubon for Yelich and taking the disgruntled Castro off their hands. I'll go Ortiz, but then, they need to throw in a couple of lottery-ticket guys from full-season A.

They are not going to damage Yelich's value by packaging him with any salary dump. It's going to take a much better pitching prospect than Bickford.

I agree I cant see DS giving up 3-5 top prospect for Yelich he is no a Franchise player in my book

I'll admit that my initial offering was probably over the top but I was trying to not overvalue our own prospects. I still think Brinson plus one of Woodruff, Burns, Ortiz is the start.

Marlins are trying to create bidding war for Yelich and "Friends".

Brewers have just upped their offer........... Uggghhhh.

Once again, don't ask or even pry hints.

Should know something in a week if not sooner.

So two things here. 1) I like the idea of Yelich, but am uncomfortable about upping the offer. I trust Stearns, but at the same time hearing that make me a bit cautious. 2) This could drag out another week. My refresh button may not be able to take it.

Oh this should play well on the boards. :laughing

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
