If the Packers clean house - What direction should they go?

Lets pretend that TT retires and MM and staff are fired at the end of the year. What direction do you go?

GM: there are several of Wolf's like that I think would line up quickly to come back. Discuss options if you wish.

Coaches: This is more my interest. Knowing that ARod comes back and is a main proponent of the offence, I think I'd like to see a defensive focused head coach hired with an younger, creative OC to work with ARod.

I think generally the defensive HC has failed more times than it succeeds because its no longer true that defense wins championships (or its the exception instead of the rule at least). MN has a long line of failed defensive HCs.

But having ARod mostly running the offense can really change the impact here. I wonder if Darrel Bevelle would be interested in OC/Asst HC position? Steal John Schneider from Seattle also.

Or would you prefer to stick to the Holmgren/Sherman/MM style offense first HC?

I know it's completely homer, but I'd like Aranda as D coordinator. What about Josh McDaniel as HC? I know that he washed out in St. Louis, but I think the talent level there was garbage.

I thought McDaniel was Denver's HC during the Tim Tebow disaster.

(Edit: I looked it up; he was HC of the Broncos following the Cutler trade (2009-2010). Tebow was dropped on John Fox in 2011.)

I can't imagine they are going to "clean house" unless Thompson retires, and even then that's an iffy proposition.

Best case scenario is Dom Capers retires/is fired. Vic Fangio, the current Bears DC, who was previously with the 49ers, is in the final year of his contract. He's a 3-4 guy and highly respected in the league. Packers could do a lot worse than hire him away from Chicago. He's not a kid at 59, but that's considerably younger than Capers.

Personally, I think the best case scenario is DC is fired and MM&TT remain. But that wasn't the point of the post. :)

Either way, they need a new DC that injects some life and creativity to the defense. I think we have a lot of talent on D, they just play way to predictable of a scheme...

I would be for a house cleaning. Would be fine with MM staying so long as TT and Capers are gone.

GM: Just let Eliot Wolf have it. 14 years in Green Bay and seems to know what Packers football is all about. I think he's the David Stearns of football right now and I like that he would be a young guy with already 14 years of experience in the game.

DC: Mike Vrabel. Currently the DC for the Houston Texans. I think he would accept at DC job for the Green Bay Packers. The Houston Texans run a 3-4 defense, but I'm not sold on having to keep a 3-4. I honestly wish they would go more to a 3-5-3 look and stay out of zone coverage. Vrabel could clearly coach up the linebackers, which I feel is the most important position on the defensive side of the ball.

HC: I would like to keep MM. There are scheme and in-game decisions of his that no doubt drive me crazy. I like him because of how he carries himself and that is important to me as in my football coach. He is a QB genius who developed Aaron Rodgers. However, he is also responsible for Hundley's failures to develop well into year 3. Because of the post title in needing to clean house however, my pick for head coach would be Jon Gruden. I like a HC who has the innate ability to develop QBs and I think Gruden is the best out there. I think the Packers is one job he would consider leaving broadcasting for. He is also one of the guys that I would want developing the next QB of the future after Rodgers leaves.
