Packers just cut Bennett

Patriots claim him. I mean, of course they did.

They also lost a 4th or 5th round comp pick due to his release and are lifting the burden of his guaranteed salary from the Packers, but yeah, watch NE get the most out of that nut job for the next 3 months.

I agree on both points. Doesn't Marty see that himself? If I'm in Green Bay I want season ending surgery. Here in New England my shoulder feels good to go! I'm very curious how the signing bonus $ plays out.

And it does feel like Uncle Ted can now sit back and say I told you so. Hopefully not. Or hopefully TeD hangs them up at the end of the year. Maybe of his own choosing, maybe Murphy sacks up. ( and I've been a Ted defender / fan his entire ride. Still am.)

Bennett is a complete liar and has burned any and all bridges with the Packers with what he's done since he was cut.

I stood up for him until the latest bunch of crap he's pulled.

Including, but not limited to, throwing the Packers long time doctor under the bus, by saying other doctors told him he needed season ending surgery on his shoulder, and the Packers were pressuring him to play. Then the week after he's cut, he's playing for the Patriots.

If I'm the NFL, I'm checking his phone records to see how many New England area codes show up from the bye week until he was cut in Green Bay...seems all too convenient that the Patriots of all teams claimed him seemingly 5 seconds after he was released.

The Patriots were just about last in the waiver order so it's not like he was flat out released and everyone had an equal chance at him. Almost 30 teams passed.

According to Bennett, he told his agent to tell other teams not to claim him on account of his need for shoulder surgery.

Which makes it all the more fishy - if Bennett doesn't know ahead of time that the Pats were going to pick him up, there's no way he's telling everyone else that he can't play.

He just got done saying he was retiring and then a possible shoulder injury that required surgery. Yeah I’m sure tons of teams were lining up for his services.

It obvious the Packers doctor forced him to play for the Patriots.

Disclaimer up front I'm not an attorney, much less understand the union contract, etc. But it seems to me the Packers should be successful here, looking at the chronology. Almost certainly will end in a settlement of some kind, and I hope that doesn't happen. I want the Packers do flat out win their case.

Bennett can't play. Then says he need season-ending surgery. Tells every other team the same- except for the Patriots. If that part is true, easy enough to confirm. Then plays the next week for the Patriots. He's full of it, and they can prove it.

Not saying it will or would happen but it would be some kind of awesome if the Pats had to surrender a draft choice to the Packers because of this.

Pretty unlikely, but most NFL fans would love to see their rap sheet grow. If the league asked to see Bennett's phone, he could just smash it.

Reports are that Bennett told Belichek he didn't want to play when the Pats claimed him and he had to be talked into going to New England. Take it for what it's worth but saying that he told every team but New England he didn't want to play is wrong according to what has been reported.

Another interesting fact I read is that if the Packers win a grievance against Bennett, New England would actually gain cap space because of it.
