Milwaukee Bucks 2017 - 2018

Outlander
Literally any back up center who current plays 12-15 minutes a night would help the Bucks over Thon.

Shall we test this theory with Marsh...Miles Plumlee? Ekpe Udoh? Johnny O' Bryant? Dan Gadzuric? The options are pretty deep in this organization the past decade.

I think people severely underestimate the learning curve these guys like Giannis and Thon are undertaking. Patience is a virtue, not everyone can be a once in a generation achiever like Giannis so fast. No I don't think Thon will be of that level, but with experience and time I think he might be a serviceable piece to the organization. It would also help if J Kidd didn't put him in bad situations on offense and his pathetic defensive scheme.

This is the point where the Bucks management we've known for 20 years will give up on a guy like Thon for a quick fix like Jordan or Whiteside. I'm all for getting him and the team some help because it's really needed, but throwing the towel in would be an asinine idea.

As for Brogdon, I love having him around and hes a really good player, but he's not taking us to any sort of promised land and I concur with a previous poster. We need to trade him when we can while he's a good asset (1st round lottery pick or something controllable down low for a couple years??) before we dole out a 10+ million a year contract to another 6th-8th man candidate...we can't have the temptation there for management to do this either, it's another patented Bucks move over the past 20 years.

Giannis hurt today...... man oh man if he's out for any extended amount of time they're screwed. Right now they're within 1.5 of the three seed, which is TOTALLY do-able. The cavs are melting down big time, and getting Jabari back is nice, but they CAN'T win without Giannis for an extended period.

Henson had a big game..... 19pts, 18 boards, (against the Nets). Man, I don't want to get suckered into thinking this team can do something. Is it so much to ask to just win ONE playoff series??

I haven't sold on Thon yet. He really needs another 30 lbs. to be effective yet. He talked about gaining weight when he was drafted, though it doesn't yet look like he's gained any. But what I don't like is that now he'll take a pass and either shoot it straight away if he's open or pass it immediately. He really needs to learn to be more effective on offense and learn to drive to the basket now and again. I've seen times where he had a lane open to the basket but still chose the longer shot just because he was open to take it.

Kevin Garnett has had very flattering things to say about Maker from working with him in the offseason, and Garnett has no vested interest in the success of the Bucks whatsoever.

Look what happened to Tobias Harris once he got out of Milwaukee.

His buddy Jason Kidd got him paid him to work out with Thon. Of course he's going to say great things, so they bring him back again.

Thon's work ethic is legendary, but if 2 years of working like that gets you to the point of being one of the worst players in the NBA at age 24 (like most front offices believed https://www.theringer.com/2016/6/29/16042548/thon-makers-age-controversy-could-change-the-draft-as-we-know-it-eb82d46c2273 ), can you really expect some huge amount of growth going forward?

People don't still believe he is 19 right?

I thought he would be a heck of a defender who would eventually develop a 3 game to go with clean up points. Boy was I wrong. The guy looks lost out there.

We have two guys that we give a ton of minutes to in Snell and Thon and their stat sheet looks like they played half a quarter.

Zeller looks like an upgrade over Thon, we definitely need an upgrade at center especially in rebounding and defending the paint.

Very true. Zellers minutes >>>>>> Thons minutes and Zeller makes $2M.

Not a huge move but pretty solid considering our garbage isn't getting DAJ.

Monroe couldn't be re-signed because players with bad or expiring contracts were being trade, released by their new team and resigned by their old one. This rule closed that loophole.

Rhetorical: (of a question) asked in order to produce an effect or to make a statement rather than to elicit information. ;)

The link is to an article about his age controversy, but says nothing about what other GMs think of him. In fact, it is complementary: "“What he is” is this: an oak tree that can pick-and-pop and be relied upon to defend someone half his size in a switch. He can also do stuff like this. Who the hell cares how old he is? "

First I forget to pick up one of my co-workers from an appointment this morning, now this... what a day! :)

Honestly, if not for Giannis (which is a really big deal, I know), Hammond's drafting was horrendous.

2015 - Who drafted after Vaughn in the first round that year is significantly better? Hollis-Jefferson and who else? (Do you want Bobby Portis punching out Giannis in practice?) A few are marginally better, but I'd be hard pressed to name more than a couple who are significantly better.

2014 - Parker... who knows if it hadn't been for the injuries. Embiid has played half as many games as Parker even with the injuries. Maybe Aaron Gordon, but he's just breaking out now. He wasn't much his first three years.

2013 - Giannis - enough said.

2012 - Henson - same with Vaughn, who drafted after him has been significantly better? Evan Fournier and who else? Some of them are out of the league. (Again, first round picks only. Many other teams passed on Crowder, Green, and Middleton too as they were 2nd round picks.)

2011 - Passed on Klay Thompson and Leonard but they drafted Fredette for the Kings as part of the trade and ended up with Tobias Harris. Would have hurt more to have sent those guys, but Harris wasn't a bad outcome at all.

They've made bad trades, but I don't see horrible drafting.

Every player taken in the first round after Vaughn has positive win shares. Vaughn's is not. Every other player in the top 25 has more career points, and only two have fewer career minutes. He was the epitome of a non-contributor.

I have zero issues with taking Parker, but injuries have to be part of the narrative.

Henson is probably a fair point. Until you get out of the 1st, there wasn't much in the back half of that draft.

Sure, Harris ended up being fine, but he was here for a year and a half before being dumped and then blossoming in Orlando. And when you look at all the talent taken behind Fredette in that draft....

They've made bad trades, but I don't see horrible drafting.

No mention of Joe Alexander? :)

Harris blossoming in Orlando is on Skiles, not Hammond. Skiles refused to play Harris and that lead to Harris being traded.

He has been one of the worst players in the NBA this season. There is an age where you can no longer wager on hope for the future.

The trade today proved that for the Bucks.

Also, the idea that the Bucks have drafted well is hilarious.
