Pitino's name keeps on coming up as a possible candidate for the Bucks.

Which one? Dad or the son?

Rick Pitino

You know, the one who wins because he hires hookers to help recruit the best players.

Guys like Pitino and Caliparo aren’t good coaches. They are good at finding ways to take advantage of the NCAA. That’s why both failed miserably when they had their chances in the NBA.

If we're serious about hiring a woman (Becky Hammons also rumored in the list), I'd look no further than a few hundred miles to the west and hire Cheryl Reeve. She is a special woman and a special coach, not to mention has also been a successful dual GM/coach. I don't even really watch WNBA but know how revered she is over here and the chemistry she has created with her team over the years.

(Which is becoming VERY apparent that we need with this team, because it's pretty lacking at this point)

Watched most of the second half last night vs. the Clippers. Don't get to watch much with being outside of the Milwaukee area, so only get the TNT/ESPN games, just a few observations: Jabari has some of the worst body language ever, it is pretty clear him and Giannis have zero chemistry, looked like 2 little 9 year olds playing and complaining to their parents (coaches) that the other wasn't playing fair together. Sterling Brown and Zeller look to be about two of the only guys to play with consistent hustle, not sure what the coaches see in Henson that gets him more playing time than Zeller. Doesn't seem the team has many/(any?) shooters, which is not a good formula in today's NBA. That sure seemed like a lot of minutes for a 40 y/o Jason Terry. Just ugly how they blew it in the 4th quarter after playing with a lot of intensity in the 3rd to get a lead heading into the 4th quarter.

Bill Simmons was at the game and said the Bucks have plenty of talent they need a coach with a clue.

The team is fine with shooters. If they want to be a team that drives the lane a lot, that's fine and it should mean a lot of free throws, too. They'd get more 3s if they actually designed some 3-point plays for Middleton, which they really don't. Thon and Snell can shoot long-distance, too, but of course they only just stand there and hope maybe they'll be involved.

Zeller playing decent despite being a waiver claim only goes to show that the team desperately needs a big body inside who isn't entirely immobile. I'm sorta-kinda hoping Jabari leaves and we can squeeze enough money together for Jordan next year. It loses a lot of scoring, but ideally you'd hope Thon and Snell and Brogdon would all be more involved, along with Middleton getting another 2-3 points per night if more plays were designed with him in mind. But that scenario seems to be the only way we could get a real Center on the team since the high-priced nobodies on the team are still signed through next season. That or if Bledsoe is somehow traded, which I'd love to see more than Jabari leaving. There's a good defensive Center in the draft who'll be taken around #5, but we don't have any assets that I can see to move up to that spot.

Really though Jordan averages more points than Parker does....Jabari is really overrated at this point of his career. Sign Jordan and move Henson to backup and we'd be MUCH better off in my opinion. This team needs rebounding and an inside presence so bad. As i've said previously, this time with Jabari back is no different than any of the other times....the team's performance goes in the tank. I see no reason whatsoever to give Parker a dime, but knowing this organization they'll give him a max deal.

They can't sign anyone, they are capped out.

They can do a sign-and-trade with Jabari, or they can let him walk and spend about $8m per year on a mid-level exception player. Jabari has never really been a fit next to Giannis and Khris and is mediocre to awful at everything except scoring, which they don't really need. He's never really played winning basketball, going all the way back to Duke when Coach K had to bench him in the tournament. His advanced stats are terrible and no matter how impressive some of his scoring highlights are, the team just hasn't consistently played better when he's on court. He's always had a negative adjusted plus-minus, and the team has gotten a big boost both times he got hurt (first replacing him with Dudley, then with Khris coming back).

Complementary glue guys like Brogdon and Brown are better fits with Giannis and Khris, and they can provide enough scoring. Even if Jabari had reached his potential, they would have been better off trading him for a really good center or pg, or at least a high draft pick so they could take their chances on getting one there. It's really too bad they waited this long to realize what should have been obvious, because they probably could have traded Jabari and some bad contracts for expiring contracts and a high lotto pick if they had the foresight to do so.

The moral here is that even for efficient 20+ ppg scorers, there's an awful lot of basketball to be played between those buckets, just like there's an awful lot of baseball to be played in the intervales between the 40+ hr's a guy like Chris Carter is capable of hitting. Usually the best scorers are at least respectable in a lot of the other skills you need to win, but every once in a while you find a top-flight scorer who's just not a good basketball player at all, and that's Jabari.

I have nothing to add, other than I completely agree with everything you said.

The reason I said Jordan is the Bucks have offered Jabari $18M and Jordan makes $25M right now but is not expected to get quite that much next year.

The Bucks are allowed to pay Jabari that much because he's their free agent. The Bucks could only pay Jordan about $8m.

Sign-and-trades are also a lot more restrictive in the current CBA. Teams were abusing the ability to over-pay their own free agents just to effectively go over the cap to get someone else. I'm not entirely sure how it works now to be honest, but trading Jabari for Jordan could be difficult or impossible at this point, and that's before you even consider whether LAC would want to do it. The time to do it was during the season before Jabari came back looking awful and when LAC looked like they might be better off rebuilding.

Hearing that Rick Pitino has contacted the Bucks about their head coaching position. Uggg why can we not have nice things?

Pitino would be a horrible hire I hope they just not interview him at all.

I don’t have time to watch every minute of every game or follow the team like I do the Brewers. But I watch enough, and here are some views.

1. If they hire a top coach, things can be corrected.

2. This team’s largest problem is the approach on both ends. On offense, I would not dismiss it as just NBA ball, but there is almost no continuity. They need a coach who understands team offense, ball movement, etc. Standing around taking turns going one on one is stupid ball. If they found the extra pass more often, this team has all the talent in the world on offense.

3. The defensive effort is pathetic. The lack of consistent energy on defense is unacceptable. You’ve got too many guys upright, not in a stance, flat footed, not anticipating, not playing hard. It’s ridiculous. You couple it with stupid ball on offense, and having even the record they have is a testament to some pure talent on the roster.

4. A new coach can address my points 2-3 and this is a 50 win team and a lot higher with some roster tweaks at the role player level.

5. Parker is a keeper. He’s a big time talent. He and Giannis are developing together and these things don’t happen overnight. As it kicks in, probably as a result of better coaching, but also via reps and time, they can be an all time tandem. You don’t give up quality and definitely not for quantity in the NBA which is a league about key players.

6. They need a rim defender and a pure shooter. Both can be found. The rim protector needs to be a physical deterrent and presence who’s not a stiff. A younger guy who’s got energy and is tough (unlike Maker) can be found.

7. I like Brogdon and Sterling Brown.

8. They have got to knock it off on eight figure AAV salaries for mediocrities like Snell, Teletovich and Henson. Give the big money to the big four, and then surround them with guys who play roles on more reasonable deals so you can afford the big four.

9. This next twelve months is key. A coach who gets ball movement on offense and coaxes better defensive energy will be pivotal, as will re-upping Parker.

10. This can be done but I’m not entirely confident in the thought process.

Somehow, beyond all reason or comprehension, the Bucks blew a 16 point lead with 5 minutes to play tonight and are headed to OT against the Nuggets.

Wow. 5:31 107-91 and score 4 pts rest of the way to be tied at 111 in the end. Real large FT advantage to Denver including a 3pt attempt in under 3secs left(how do you foul at that moment?) that were made to tie the game to go in to OT.

It amazes me how pathetic the roster moves are, the signings, for so many years. Need to drop them all and start with an entire new group. Giving away these 12mil contract types to bench worthy players. Tony Snell? Those type of signings. 4/46mil for a guy who scores less than 10pts, less than 4 Rebs, Less then 2 Assists, less than 1 steal average per game. Playing games like this one his 33min line of 1-5FGs 1-4 3pt 0 Rebounds 2 assists 1 steal

He limits the offense far more than whatever defensive positive he provides because it comes with very low numbers from that area of his game. 2+ steals avg or 7+ rebounds, or 2 blocks a game then you can say he's providing help defensively to offset his offensive hurt to the team.

You read here so often how the offense is a stand still 1-1 and it's has so much to do with Snell making the offense play 4 on 5 with him on the court. Such trash and he's paid more and more the next 3 seasons.

Henson, Delly, and Telotovic. Such a waste of money on these guys, and it's been that way now for so long.
