Favorite Brewer Jersey to Wear and Why

You're going to the game and want to wear a jersey of a current or former Brewer. You don't want to wear one of the typical fan favorites, Yount, Molitor and Braun, but everyone else in team history is up for grabs. Sure there were other great Brewers, Aaron, Fingers, Cooper, Vuckovich, Sheets, Fielder, Gomez, as well as cult favorites in Gorman, Branyan, and Nyjer and they can be chosen.

So whose jersey are you wearing and why?

Me personally, I am going with Rob Deer. Deer was not my prototypical favorite player (too low of an average and too many strikeouts) but he couldn't have been cooler to me as a kid and was just as cool as an adult when we interacted a few times on Twitter. Give me a #45 pinstripe pullover any day of the week.

My Helena Brewers Tropical Tuesday David Welch #73 jersey (see avatar). To say that it gets attention is an understatement; when I wore it to Boston their fans were literally pulling me aside and calling their friends over to see it.

Welch threw a 7-inning no-hitter in AA, but never made it to the majors.

That, and it's the only Brewers jersey I own.

Julio Machado... Nickname from my little league coach.

That'd be a killer jersey to have.

Well played, sir.

This was prior to his... ummm... legal problems.

I have one jersey - Geoff Jenkins. Bought it at JC Penney for something like $20 right at the end of his final season. It is a bit too large, but that's okay. I wear it to games and on opening day - just a few times a year. Can't wait to put it on for playoff games. Still in almost perfect shape.

Do you actually have one? Frequent the RF Bleachers?

I don't really like wearing jerseys of current players especially now that I am older than all of them so pretty much just wear Yount and Molitor powder blue jerseys. I have been looking for a Daryl Hamilton jersey similar to above without success.

Hamilton, Vaughn or Jaha for me. Vaughn was my first favorite player.

One game I went to this year, sat by a guy with a Supan jersey. I thought it was pretty funny. But I did have to ask, just to make sure he was wearing it to be ironic.

Personally, I don't own a jersey but if I did I would go retro with Lezcano, Hisle, Robidoux, Cirillo I can think of a lot of them. Or, I would buy into the future with a jersey for Erceg, Yomamoto, someone like that.

Since I'm not allowed to wear my Pauly jersey at this time, I'll bust out my Jeromy Burntitz. It's an oldie but a goodie. Funny story about this jersey (not funny at the time). Got this Burny while in college. The house my friends and I lived in came with a cat. This female cat became pregnant. Being a slob I left my prized jersey laying on a lazy chair in the living room. At this time the cat decides to let loose with the wonder of birth, on my chair, on my jersey. Not such a good day! Luckily the jersey was laundered back to it's original condition.

My favorite is the 2011 Braun All-Star jersey to wear. It's unique and I usually get a positive comment or two on it.

But, because it says "National" on the front I have had times at MP where people have asked why I'm wearing a Nationals jersey. A couple of people were smart-asses about it. Then they see the Brewers patch on the sleeve and realize they're idiots.

I own a game worn Gabe Gross jersey from 2008 that I try to wear to games as much as possible in the hopes that a die hard like us sees it and gets a chuckle. I still think he could have been an effective platoon player out in RF!
