Brewers 2018 Payroll (updated 01/13/18)

Has there been any indication on how much Mark is willing to spend on payroll for this year? I know you won't find an exact number but it would be nice to know a potential range.

The most we've ever had was $110M - so I wouldn't expect more than that.

However, one thing of note is that every major league team will get $50M in the first quarter of this year due to the sale of BAMTech - which is the digital media company is the streaming source for MLB.tv and MLB.com - plus HBO, NHL, WWE, and others. BAMTech was bought by Disney.

Perhaps the sale can help us spend more if needed.

Yeah 18 to 23 mil is hard without adding a guy like salazar or archer.

Cobb Oh leaves 2b as is

Duffy Harrison or Walker pushes it over leaves pen as is.

Salazar harrison or walker Oh should just fit under 115.

Huira Lutz really need to stay. Leaves big tickets of ortiz burnes and ray. Eesh.

Right, he was just your insurance piece type guy to eat innings. We're in a different mode and if you bring in another legit starter your chances of needing him are drastically reduced. You basically have Suter for free to do the same thing

I'm sure it will depend a lot on Yo's spring training. If he looks like his old self, they still may be inclined to keep him.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

And probably better.

It's been noted in the Cain thread, but 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 for Cain salaries the next 5 years. 1 million deferred each year thereafter. Our payroll is roughly in the 89-90 range, subtract 2 from that if we don't keep Gallardo...but we also potentially have to pay up to 5.4 million in incentives for Logan/Jeffress. Still, we have some payroll to work with yet.
