Dream Draft

Not based on much other than Patrick's review of the prospects and BA's review so far, but here is how I would like to handicap the Brewers draft, assuming average position value (ie taking BA and Patrick's overall rank and fitting it to our selections, #2, #40, #70 and #110)

1st round: If available then Adam Loewen, lhp. Simply put you can never have enough quality arms. One MVP hitter in the line up every day can change a teams fortune offensively, but you need 3-4 stud pitchers to make it far (ie NY, Oak, Atl, and now Cubbies).

If not available, then Delmon Young, of.

2nd round: Ideally I would like to see a position player, and I keep reading good things about Tim Battle, of. BA described him as possibly being better than Milledge tools-wise.

If not available, I'd like to see Jarrod Saltamacchia, c. Or if we go Weeks/Young with #2 overall, then a lhp like Scott Maine or Jacob Stevens.

3rd round: Lots of position prospects in this slot (65-75 overall ranks), such as Shane Costa, of; Landon Powell (spotlighted today by BA); Daric Barton; Tony (Don't call me Todd) Richie, all three cathcers. If we need a pitcher then Greg Reynolds, rhp, or lhp Josh Banks and Darrin Downs have good write-ups.

4th round: How about former Brewer pick, Josh Smith, rhp. Again lots of others to predict here, depends what we do with 1st-3rd, and who drops.

Then to cap it all off, I pray we sign a couple of DFE's, especially Dana Eveland, Adam Mannon.

Add these guys to our prospect list and we could go 15-20 deep with quality prospects. Anyway, just some thoughts. Tell me what you think.

Nice wish list, and I think your picks are stacked up pretty well with the area in which they'll be taken.

I don't think Battle will make it to our 2nd round pick, but it's not a stretch to think he might. As you said, it is your "dream" draft http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif . Battle as a Georgian is drawing a lot of interest from the Braves, who love drafting hometown players & could very well do so with one of their 2 first round supplemental picks.

I'll have to put some thought into a dream draft. Jared Hughes has reportedly been falling, even if he shouldn't be, and might be cool to snag with our 2nd rounder. Salty would still be ideal there.
