The "Sign Eveland Now!" campaign thread - LET's GO

From BA's regoinal coverage on Southern California:

The rich Southern California junior-college ranks normally produce several early-round picks, but this year could be an exception--especially if the top prospects sign before the draft. LHP Dana Eveland, a 16th-round pick of the Brewers last year out of a Texas junior college, could be a fourth- or fifth-rounder if he re-enters the draft. Once a teammate of Harrington's at Palmdale High, Eveland has command of a running 88-91 mph fastball and 12-to-6 curve. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Eveland resembles David Wells and will need to keep his weight in check.

I always find these comparisons kinda ridiculous since they are often made because 2 players look alike. Heck, the Maddux brothers share a ton of genes in common and they

1) don't look that similar, and

2) have had different levels of careers.

I think any scout that compares 2 players mainly on their looks should be shot, buried, dug up and shot again.

We have begun our neogations and they have made there first offer. I really cant say more than that at this time.

As far as Wells he is a darn good pitcher and I will assume they were talking about ability. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif

how disappointed that we don't even get a prediction from Mike. I personally hope, as others do, that both Dana and Adam Mannon become members of the organization in the next week.

I know we are all chomping at the bit to get Eveland and Mannon signed, but we also have to remember that even though Mike gets us some info that they are probably not at liberty to speak of any deal until it becomes official. It will get done. I mean look we have already thrown out a proposal to them. This is just a benchmark to see where the asking margins are. Hopefully it gets done soon in time. I would hate to see Dana pitch for some other organization.

As far as Mannon I don't think anyone has really heard much on him. If anyone knows anything throw us a bone!
