2017-10-01: Brewers (Wilkerson) at Cardinals (Flaherty) 2:15 PM CDT [Brewers win, 6-1; finish season at 86-76]

hawing

It is nice to win after another gut-punch yesterday. I think it does say something that the team got up and didn't really hang their heads at all. I hope we keep the same attitude all next year. I don't think CC is the best in-game manager. I disagree with him fairly often. That said, if he's responsible for the way this club carries itself and the way they seem to interact with each other, I think he deserves credit. Maybe he's the guy. He did it as a player, and if he wins one as a manager in Milwaukee, that would be amazing. Honestly? I think it's possible.

Go Brewers! Fun year!

Maybe CC should have started Wilkerson yesterday. He pitched very well today in the win. Good sign for next year.

No pressure today and the Cards spring training lineup....

I'm glad he pitched well but 2nd guessing CC about not starting a rookie with no track record seems a bit much.

Hurts. COL lost yesterday and losing today. Gahhh!!!!!

Colorado pulled their starters early (Blackmon only 2 ABs, Arenaudo only one) and LeMahieu didn't even start at all. Can't say because they lost today that they would have lost if they had something to play for.

Regardless of whether the Cards didn't start DeJong/Carpenter/Pham, holding them to two hits over seven innings is pretty darned good. No reason not to pencil Wilkerson in as the #5 for next year.

Barring any trades, the rotation for next year looks like Anderson/Davies/Woodruff/Wilkerson and one of Hader/Suter. They'll have Houser, Burnes, Peralta, and Ortiz waiting in the wings if one of them falters/gets hurt, with Nelson possibly back in August/September.

Of course. As soon as the Brewers blew the 6-0 lead yesterday, I knew we'd win today, and the Rockies would lose their last two, just because that's the only way the universe could further jab Brewers fans everywhere in the eye.

Cubs have been the laughing stock of Major League Baseball for the last century.

Brewers have been losing since their foundation. This couldn't really be much of a shock.

One pennant since the 40's, one WS since 1908 in one of baseball's biggest markets with one of the largest fanbases. It must be like being a Yankees fan but without all the success.

Think it's a little early to be penciling in Wilkerson based on 1 good start. I'm,sure he will be 1 of a number of guys they give looks to in spring training. To me the only sure things are Anderson and Davies.......
