Hoover and Williams have both looked very good this spring. I don't see Drake or Barnes making it a head of these two. If they keep Gallardo they won't keep Miley.

I'll take Barnes' major league performance over the last two seasons over Hoover's major league performance in a heartbeat.

I’ll take Gallardo over drake

Me too, but I'm thinking they'll keep someone who profiles as a lefty specialist, and if that's not Logan, Drake would be the only other.

If I am Gallardo and they took Drake over me, lefty "specialist" or not, I would retire from baseball.

A lot may have changed today. Injuries to Miley and Logan may end up opening the door to one of Woodruff and Guerra and *gulp* Oliver Drake cracking the opening day roster.

....... drake......

Can't he just go away already.

C: Pina, Bandy

IF: Shaw, Thames, Villar, Sogard, Perez, Arcia, Aguilar

OF: Braun, Yelich, Cain, Santana

SP: Anderson, Davies, Chacin, Guerra/Suter

RP: Knebel, Hader, Albers, Jeffress, Williams, Barnes, Gallardo, Hoover/Suter

*Suter in the pen, Guerra makes it. Suter in rotation, Hoover makes it.

**Woodruff comes up in June to save service time.

Just thinking aloud here. My guess will be Woodruff just begins in the rotation.

Hoover's had 2 very good full seasons as a major league reliever, in 2013 and 2015. That's 2 more than Barnes has had. Barnes had a good half season in 2016 and a so-so 2017. I think both make the team.

With the team still in rebuilding mode I'd say things like options and service time considerations will have just as much of an effect on the choices being made.

They can deal or comb the waiver wires for a lefty specialist better than Drake. I'm sure there a more than a few in camps as non-roster guys. Maybe give Webb another shot.

Fernando Abad was released by Phillies on Wednesday... He would be worth a look if Logan ends up on DL.

What are all your thoughts on the timing of when cuts will start happening. I would think they'll only take maybe 32-33 guys to Houston, of which at least 2-3 will be guys with no show of making the team(Wren, Orf, AAAA pitcher). So most of their decisions have to come probably by Sunday right?

If we are worried about $2.5M why in the hell did we give Sogard the contract he has? Charity case to say the least.

We seem to value “chemistry” guys, like Sogard and Vogt who on paper aren’t good players but they seem to do the intangibles well.

I think Sogard was re-signed because he's a "professional hitter" who doesn't strike out a ton. Same reason we traded for Yelich and signed Cain when we had a surplus of outfielders. Stearns is trying to get us away from being a high-strikeout team into a higher-contact team.

I'll agree that a lot of Vogt seems to be "clubhouse presence," as he has a hard time getting the ball to second base without two or three hops. He has a decent bat for a catcher, and maybe his other defensive aspects are alright, but man did he have a bad arm as a Brewer last year.

"The most successful (people) know that performance over the long haul is what counts. If you can seize the day, great. But never forget that there are days yet to come."

With how erratic relievers are from year to year, Drake is about as likely to be successful as half the relievers in baseball. I'm not saying he's going to be good. Just saying if he's on the roser to start the season I'm not all that worried. If he sucks rocks for a month the damage would be no worse than any number of supposedly good relievers around the league will be then he gets replaced.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Barring any trade or injury, I'm going with this pitching staff on opening day.

Rotation

Anderson

Davis

Chacin

Suter

Guerra

Bullpen

Yo

Albers

Hadar

Logan

Knebel (closer)

Hoover

Jeffress

Taylor Williams

Isn't Logan already injured? Thought something happened with him the same day Miley got hurt, but haven't heard an update on him.

Brewers starting rotation to start the year per Tweet...

Starting rotation to open the season: RHP Chase Anderson, RHP Jhoulys Chacín and LHP Brent Suter at San Diego and RHP Zach Davies in the home opener vs. St. Louis.

It also appears Brandon Woodruff will start in the bullpen, but will likely be the 5th starter once necessary.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Adam McCalvy Tweet...

Brewers' roster choices are down to five players for three spots. Probably two relievers and one hitter.

Drake, Hoover, Williams

Aguilar, Choi

Williams has options. Drake, Aguilar out of options. Hoover, Choi are NRIs and would need 40-man spots.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

So what's the projection now? Not what you'd want to see, but what it will actually be?

Rotation : Chase Anderson, Jhoulys Chacin, Brent Suter, Zach Davies

Bullpen : Corey Knebel, Josh Hader, Matt Albers, Jeremy Jeffress, Jacob Barnes, Oliver Drake, J.J. Hoover, Brandon Woodruff

Catcher : Manny Pina, Jett Bandy

Infield : Eric Thames, Jonathan Villar, Orlando Arcia, Travis Shaw, Erik Sogard, Hernan Perez, Jesus Aguilar

Outfield : Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, Domingo Santana, Ryan Braun

Drake has to go. I can't stand the thought of watching him implode even one inning. This team needs to set the best roster it can, not worry about anyone's feelings, service time, or "vetness", or anything else. Roster up your best guys and go to war.

Williams should have his spot.

I'm going to guess this. But could see after Woodruff moves into the rotation, then Williams gets called up.
