As much as the offense struggled, they got Miami's starter to throw 100 pitches in 4 2/3's innings.

Braun has to swing at strikes.

Just such bad plate discipline. Worst I've ever seen him have. Too bad too. Shaw sucks as well. Our 3-4 hitters have been such a let down.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

In no way is the slump all Braun's fault but he's been a big part of it. This is the time of the year you'd hope for a guy like that to be carrying you and unfortunately it's been the opposite.

We just don't have any star power in this lineup anymore like we did 6 or 7 years ago. It's been a big contributor to this slump.

That's the difference this season, it's a lineup with a lot of average and above average, but no great seasons. Not a single OPS over .900 for any regular. Only one real blackhole though in Villar.

Wow it just occurred to me that the brewers may be using a new pitching strategy for September on purpose. Utilize the 40 man roster to include as many MLB ready pitchers as possible. Use the added staff, rather

than relying on back end starters for 5+ Innings (Garza, Suter, etc). just go to bullpen committee to get through games. There is no need to have the pitcher bat in this situation, so that also gives an offensive advantage. Anytime someone is struggling just pull them.

I thought that was quite obvious.

It wasn't obvious to any of the people complaining about Jeffress starting.

HE's obviously contributing to the slump right now. But for like 3 weeks in August he absolutely tore the cover off the ball and the rest of the O still slumped.

Also, friend of mine is listening on radio and he said Bob let it slip Braun's nursing the calf injury again. HE said it sounded like something he wasn't supposed to let out. I guess it could explain some. The last 3 weeks or so (pretty much since the hot streak and then being sat 3 of 4 days) he's looked as bad as he ever has at the plate.

Way to go Thames
