AUDIO via WBCB in the Philadelphia area Fri. 1/5: LHP Jake Drossner, the Brewers' 10th round pick in 2015 out of the University of Maryland, is the guest on this show:

"Dr. Lee Picariello with mindful athlete training invites you to tune in Friday mornings at 8:00am for, “The Head Game“, a must listen show for athletes and coaches of all levels and ages."

Drossner, 23, made one April start for the Timber Rattlers in 2017, but was then sidelined for the remainder of the season. We learn Drossner has been rehabbing from shoulder surgery, although we don't know exactly when that took place.

It's a full hour, and we learn more about Drossner's amateur days than his professional ones, although Jake does speak well of the Brewers organization. As with all the longer podcasts we link to, always worthwhile to pop them on during a work commute or such.

Drossner is well-spoken, but my takeaway was the doctor host tends to carry extended portions of the conversation to too great an extent in order to make his own points on various mental aspects of the game.

The episode is dated 1-5-18 at the initial link above.

Good luck to Jake in 2018.

That Eric Longenhagen video is well worth it if you haven’t checked it out yet. One really great nugget regarding Tristen Lutz, Longenhagen said that when Kiley McDaniel was with the Braves they had Lutz in for a pre-draft workout. He said Lutz’s exit velo was “off the scale”. He verifies it was in the 110-115mph range, noting “elite exit level velocity”.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Thanks, Eye Black, was just about to post this!

The entire interview is worth your time, but the Maryvale-related discussion begins at the 50:00 minute mark. Fans of Brandon Woodruff, Adrian Houser, and Phil Bickford will want to listen.
