Interesting, does he not get a double since he did touch 2nd base safely at one point during the play

Anderson said single but that's a double. It has to be.

Very interesting call here. Rule 10.07 Example 1©:

© When the batter attempts to make a two base hit or a three base hit by sliding, he must hold the last base to which he advances. If he overslides and is tagged out before getting back to the base safely, he shall be credited with only as many bases as he attained safely. If he overslides second base and is tagged out, he shall be credited with a one base hit;

However, technically he did not slide...so does the NOTE to the above example apply?

NOTE: If the batter overruns second or third base and is tagged out trying to return, he shall be credited with the last base he touched. If he runs past second base after reaching that base on his feet, attempts to return and is tagged out, he shall be credited with a two base hit.

hmmm, the letter of the law says double, but not sure if "overruns" is meant to mean seriously trying for the next base, but returning if you see a good throw or previous runner go back.

I would say he "overran" it. He easily achieved second base and then slipped off the base. BA said it was scored a double.

First time the tavern of the game has been from my town.

I missed it. Where? Is it Two Rivers? Is that why they were talking about the East Twin and West Twin Rivers?

Ya, Tippy's in Two Rivers. They didn't know what the two rivers were. Surprising since it seems like Rock knows everything about Wisconsin geography.

"Overran" is definitely the best verbal description of what he did, but is seems odd that what he did should really be treated differently by a slide where the player clearly achieved second base and slipped off the base. Why is one considered better than the other?

My mom is from there and I was born there but we moved when I was 2. The only thing I know from there is my mom telling me I dropped my rattle in the West Twin River and some fishermen got it and brought it back to me.

My mom and her sister went back there this summer and took a picture in front of the house they grew up in. The kids who live there now we're just coming back home and we're freaked out when they saw two women just standing in front of their house.

Such a lack of focus by Keon. That should just never happen at this level, or any other level for that matter. Things like this are infuriating.

Or, he slipped on the bag. Does everything have to be overanalyzed?

Do you remember where in town that was?

Hawthorne I think? I know it's West of the West Twin and close to the lake.

Had he slid, he wouldn't have "slipped."

Hawthorne runs along the river and is a few blocks from the lake. The other side of town that I live on.

No, but he could have slid past the bag which also happens all the time these days.

This just in. Wang sighting.
