With 1 out I get it, you want to get there for the sac fly or slow roller. It is what it is, it happens. Frustrating with how the P was struggling and it might have cost us, but we got the one run they were essentially playing for anyway. With this pitch count for Glasnow you have to win this game. Hopefully Chase settles in and cruises to 6 innings 2 runs max

I was looking at this old game, now in the news these days. The 1916 Giant's tie that separates their 12 and 14 game winning streaks, giving them a 26* game winning streak I guess.

It was the second game of a doubleheader, called in the 8th, must have been for darkness. Only 18 players played in the entire game, I wonder the last time that actually happened? Giants only run came from a Benny "the Ty Cobb of the Federal League" Kauff HR, and the Pirates only run came from Honus Wagner in his second last season. The Pirates pitcher was WI native Burleigh Grimes, the last player to throw a spit ball. The other HOFer in the game, Max Carey, had 3 hits. The Giants featured slugger DAve Robertson hitting 3rd, who would lead the NL in HRs this season and the next, with a total of 12 each year.

Since Robertson in 1917 there have only been 4 other Giants (NY or SF) to lead the league in HRs in back to back season, can you name them?

Bonds, Mays, McCovey

The reason I asked is because Bonds is actually not an answer so this was a sneaky question. Mays and McCovey are correct. The other 2 are in the HOF

Of course Counsel says they can make the playoffs and do well in the playoffs. Is he going to say we're not going to make the playoffs and will get swept if by some miracle we do make it?

I was pretty excited about seeing what the Brewers could do with Nelson/Anderson/Davies in the playoffs. Hard to imagine a deep run if they got in with Anderson/Davies/...Woodruff?Suter?Garza???

I'd happily watch them try though

I am not Shea Vucinich

Those don't count as RBI's for Thames because his OPS is irrelevant.

LOL --- fair play with that comment

I will say I'd be thrilled to be wrong re Thames. It is starting to look like I am
