Once again, starting a non true outfielder in a playoff hunt just kills us... (No, I do not consider Perez a true outfielder)

I don't understand why we can't play real OFers in games that truly matter to our playoff chances...

It's asinine.

Can definitely see a case for starting Phillips in RF today, but then you'd get the "of course Hernan dominates at the plate and then has to sit" crowd. I actually like Hernan better than Santana as a defender, so I think this comes down more to a player just failing than a lineup mistake, though...

I just can't stand Perez. Everyone has their players. He's mine. To not make a play like that at this point of the race... just go away.

What do we do with thames next year? I guess status quo, platoon him. But I sure would like to get rid of him. Very poor player.

He is coming back no question. As you said in a platoon with Aguilar is the most likely. We have little payroll so you would bring him back just for the power and see if he can be better in his second campaign back in the states.

Thames' RBI count is not great. That's a good example. He's got a guy at second with one out and can't come through. Situations like that cause his weird stat line.

I suppose he has a decent OBP but I'm not a big fan. I'd be curious to see what Aguilar could do with more ABs

I have a feeling that the more you see of Aguilar, the less we will like him. He's been used very well by CC this season.

I guess I'll bring it up but why the heck does a 23 year old OF need a day off? Get you butt in there and play. To sit one of our good bats right now is ludicrous. Stupid managing/babying players. Like standing in the OF and collecting 5 plate appearances is so rough on a young body. Stupid.

Could be so. I like him. But this may very well be his optimal use as you said.

That 2-0 swing is where my hatred begins with Perez. It'd be 3-0 you impatient fool.

I am sorry, but wow Hernan Perez is an idiot at the plate. a 2-0 count and he swings at something away from himself? In what world is that ever a good idea. You swing at your favorite pitch there or not at all. Then again he swings when it is 10 feet off the plate all the time so maybe that is his favorite.

Probably forced him to bunt after that stupid swing.
