Well, we know the Brewers can't beat the teams they are "supposed" to beat, so if they happen to make the post-season that will play in their favor. Unfortunately, they have to be able to beat these other teams to get to the post-season. Long story short... it's not looking good.

Maybe should have let our hottest hitter who was put in the game for that reason to actually hit. Hate the smallball stuff, be confident and go up there and hit.

Not only do you take the bat out of his hand, you do it with 2 strikes.

Bunting with 2 strikes with anybody but the pitcher is really dumb, doing it with a hot bat is absolutely mind-blowing stupid. It's something I would have not been overly surprised with from Yost or Roenicke, but I really thought Counsell was a little smarter than that. Seems to be an emotional move made out of frustration.

You can bunt all day, steal bases, play all the small ball you want, if you can't consistently hit the ball, it doesn't matter, you lose.

[sarcasm]BUT STRIKEOUTS DON'T MATTER!!!1!!1![/sarcasm]

I always find it funny. In the sabermetric era, velocity and strikeouts are king for pitchers, yet not so important for hitters. You've got to be able to make up for not putting the ball in play by being good in a lot of other areas. Past Brewer lineups could, but not this one.

I think it might've been Villar's decision. Counsel is not a bad manager and you just don't see a lot of the head scratching things out of him that you did out of past Brewer managers.

In statistics, you cannot compare one result to a non-final result. Comparing a strikeout to a ball in play is no different than, from the pitchers side, comparing a strikeout to throwing ball 2.

In this game alone, 4 of those balls in play have resulted in double plays for the Brewers. Way worse than a strikeout.

Really he shouldn't have been bunting at all. He's already lefty so a ton of ball in play outs will end in the guy getting to 3rd. And he's the hottest hitter now.

He showed bunt twice that AB with 2 strikes. They don't have a 'cut that crap out' sign to give him after the first one?
