Gabriel Garcia on base all six times up; so much to devour here; hopefully Matt Hardy had a better night on Monday Night Raw than he did here (only time I've used that reference all year, I believe, sorry, Matt).

Sox Split Series With Redbirds, 5-4

Sox finish season 10 games over second-place Dodgers

The Memphis Redbirds scored a pair of runs in the 10th inning to secure a series split, winning Monday's contest 5-4 over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in front of 5,280 at Security Service Field in the regular season finale.

Despite the loss, the Sky Sox (80-57) finish the season 10 games over second-place Oklahoma City in the PCL American Northern Division standings, marking the first time that the Sox have won a division by double-digits since winning the PCL Southern Division by 11 ½ games in 1992.

Colorado Springs scored first for the first time in the series, taking a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Quintin Berry lined a leadoff single to center field and advanced to second on a Zac Gallen balk. After moving to third base on a groundout, Ivan De Jesus hit a slow-rolling RBI grounder to shortstop to plate Berry for the game's first run.

After the visitors took a 2-1 lead after three innings, the Sox stormed back with a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead. Yadiel Rivera grounded a single up the middle to score Lucas Erceg, who doubled to lead off the frame. One batter later, Tim Dillard showed bunt, but pulled back and grounded a ball through the legs of second baseman Aledmys Diaz. Tyler Heineman came around to score the go-ahead run on the error.

The Sox fought back with a run in the 10th inning. Berry led off the inning by blasting his second Sky Sox home run to deep right-center field off Sean Gilmartin to trim the deficit to 5-4.

For the first time in 20 years, the Sky Sox will play in the Pacific Coast League postseason beginning Wednesday, September 6, at 6:05 PM MT (7:05 Central) against the Memphis Redbirds. RHP Taylor Jungmann (9-2, 2.59 ERA) takes the ball in game one in West Tennessee against Redbirds RHP Dakota Hudson (1-1, 4.42 ERA).

Rattlers Drop Season Finale

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Thank you Chris, for another appreciated season of talent on the airwaves, in text such as the link above (do give it a click to see how Adrian Houser wrapped up), podcasts, video tweets, you name it.

Wisconsin Box Score

Keston Hiura was pinch-hit for in the 8th in what seems an odd move, in what would have been his last at-bat prior to instructionals. Hopefully OK.

Several Timber Rattlers managed to finish above .200 -- I'd say the Mendoza line, but Mario's career ended in 1982, how many generations of young ballplayers have come and gone unfamiliar with the line's namesake?
