Just curious but when was the last home run by Braun? Seems like a long time ago.

 

I'm not sure. 13 HR at the end of August is a pretty underwhelming number for him.

 

He's still a good player. He's just no longer a great one. We just need him to be 'good' for 3 more years while hopefully staying relatively healthy.

 

While he is in his rut right now, his slugging numbers are not too far off his career norms. He's one hot streak away from people fawning how great of a hitter he is again. Hopefully that's coming the last 20 games to get us in the playoffs.

His overall numbers don't speak to how well he's actually swung the bat this year. He can go 0-4 tonight with 4 line outs to the OF and his overall numbers will be worse than they are right now. Doesn't matter because if he consistently has good ABs then good things are going to happen moving forward. He's the only player in the lineup I never worry about.

 

And he's averaged 516AB the past 3yrs. His 13HR this year, given those 516AB, would put him on pace for 24HR. He's averaged 25HR the past 3yrs. 2wks ago he was hitting 295/370/918....bet at that point in time people weren't talking about how he's no longer great

Nah, I said awhile back that Braun is still good, no longer great . He's got a comparable WAR this year to players like Keon Broxton and Hernan Perez, even less depending on which type you reference. What do you want me to say?

 

No doubt there's been some bad luck these last few weeks. There's also just been bad ABs. You don't lose 100 points off your OPS in 2 weeks in late August/early September off just bad luck.
