Carolina Box Score

Jordan Yamamoto had a stellar outing on Tuesday, throwing seven shutout innings and leading the Mudcats to a 2-0 victory. Wuilder Rodriguez and Nate Griep were outstanding as well, each throwing a shutout inning.

The Mudcat pitcher heroics were needed as Carolina managed only two hits on the day. Luckily, one of those hits was a 2-run HR from Lucas Erceg, who has hit .308 in August to bump up his average to .257 for the year (to go with 15 HRs and a league leading 79 RBI).

Pitching Summary:

Jordan Yamamoto: 7.0 IP, 3 hits, 0 ER, 1BB, 7K, win

Wuilder Rodriguez: 1.0 IP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2K, hold

Nate Griep: 1.0 IP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 0BB, 0K, save

Hitting Summary:

Lucas Erceg: 1-3, HR, 2 RBI

Weston Wilson: 1-3, 2B

Carolina Game Log

All the scoring Carolina needed came in the 4th, courtesy of Erceg’s 2-run HR.

Final: Round Rock 4, Colorado Springs 1

Express Take Game One

Brooks tosses scoreless Sox debut

Aaron Brooks turned in a scoreless debut, but a four-run seventh inning gave the Round Rock Express a 4-1 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in front of 7,902 at the Dell Diamond Tuesday night.

Colorado Springs (77-54) cracked the scoreboard first in the fifth inning against former Sky Sox pitcher Paolo Espino. After a walk and a Tyler Heineman double led off the frame, Mauricio Dubon plated Nate Orf on a sacrifice fly to center field to give the visitors a 1-0 lead on the 29th Triple-A RBI for Dubon.

Making his debut for the Sky Sox after being claimed off waivers from the Chicago Cubs, Brooks kept the Express (62-70) off the board by tossing four scoreless innings and scattering four hits. The scoreless outing is the right-hander's second in 2017 after allowing zero earned runs June 1 against Nashville in Des Moines.

RHP Junior Guerra (2-2, 2.45 ERA) looks to help the Sox even the series Wednesday night at 6:05 p.m. MT against Round Rock RHP Adrian Sampson (0-0, 0.00 ERA).

Colorado Springs Box Score

Well, with Junior Guerra pitching Wednesday, he won't be available to take Matt Garza's spot against the mighty Nationals on Sunday, which sucks. That's the first time my normally mild-mannered self has used the word "sucks" all Link Report season, but there you go.

Final: Helena 15, Great Falls 13

Brewers Hang On For Win Over Voyagers

Helena jumps out to 15-2 lead thanks to Garcia grand slam, hold on for victory against Great Falls

By Garrett Greene / Helena Brewers

You'll read at the very beginning of Garrett's summary just how close the H-Crew came to losing this game!

"Lost in the 28 combined runs was the performance from starter Michael Petersen (1-2), who tossed 5.0 innings, allowing just three runs, two earned, on five hits while walking four and striking out a career-high seven."

AZL Dodgers 5, AZL Brewers 3

Maryvale Box Score

A-Crew scored all three runs in the 8th to make it close.

11th round Florida high school pick RHP Max Lazar sports a nifty 14-to-1 K-to-BB ratio in his 13.2 IP, so much more important than ERA in these samples. Lazar's listed at 6'3", 165.

Then you have 22-year-old non-drafted Missouri Baptist RHP Branden Nunn, listed at 6'4", 230, a shiny 31-to-4 ratio in 28.1 IP.

Both with similar scoreless results Tuesday, and coming from "similar but different" places in their pro careers, if you see my point. Doesn't mean both can't reach their ultimate goal.

Maryvale Game Log

Catcher Brent Diaz and his .377/.492/.509 Maryvale pinball numbers in 17 games (.860 OPS counting 12 games in Helena) reached two more times.

AZL Brewers Top of the 8th

Pat McInerney strikes out swinging.

Yeison Coca singles on a ground ball to center fielder Chris Roller. Brent Diaz scores. Pablo Abreu scores.

Pitching Change: Jasiel Alvino replaces Justin Lewis.

With Jesus Lujano batting, wild pitch by Jasiel Alvino, Yeison Coca to 2nd.
