2017-08-25: Brewers (Anderson) at Dodgers (Maeda) 9:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose 3-1, manage only 1 hit]

hawing

I recorded the game and went to bed. My brain fooled me. I honestly must have dreamed that Jesus Aguilar knocked in the winning runs in the 8th. I even had an image of what that looked like looking at my phone in the middle of the night. The brain is a crazy thing.

Back to reality though, the Brewers had some hard hit balls and weren't rewarded. It's not an excuse as they just need to start getting the job done but the definitely have been a bit snake bitten.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Well Jose Quintana and the Cubs are getting smoked through six innings. I wonder if they are calling off the season. A Brewers fan would.

I'm sorry, but this is just silly. The Cubs won 103 games last year. They also won the World Series. By and large, they returned most of that team. Yeah, there's some weaknesses that are beginning to show, but for the most part, they're not a tremendously different team now, and they've also gone all in at the deadline to patch up what they need. Of course expectations for the Cubs are much different than the Brewers right now.

For the most part, we have already surpassed both internal and external expectations for this season. Maybe they get hot in September and sneak into the playoffs, maybe they don't. At this point I would lean toward 'probably not,' but I'm not writing it off.

But come on, barring some sort of crazy Miracle Mets type run, this isn't a World Series roster, especially in a season with such a dominant NL team. That's perfectly okay, and I don't know why it's become such a shameful thing to say. They're doing all the right things and ahead of schedule, despite what all the anti-rebuild people might say.

The future is bright. Most recognize that. People aren't calling off the season. Obviously everyone is hoping for the miracle. You can want it to happen and not think it will happen and that doesn't make someone a lousy fan.
