yesterday, corey knebel set a franchise record for number of strikeouts in a single season for a reliever.

he eclipsed julio machado's record of 98 set in 1991, and currently has 99.

And that's not a crazy story at all.... :p

The Iguana....not to be trifled with.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

corey knebel keeps setting a new franchise record. 117 strikeouts now as a reliever in only 69.0 innings.

the only thing that would taint that record is for craig counsell to start knebel on one of the johnny wholestaff days. (of course, that won't happen.)
