The Rangers scored three in the first and three in the fourth as they rolled over the Brewers co-op team, 8-1. Wilmy DeJesus got the start and took the loss, going four innings and giving up six runs, five earned. Edwin Sano went 1-for-2 with a double while Elian Gonzalez added a single.

The Brewers were shutout on six hits as they lost to the Rangers by a score of 3-0 on Monday. Jose Romero got the start and took the loss, going five innings and giving up two runs while striking out seven. Jesus Brea went the final three, allowing one run. Bryan Connell led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a double. Aaron Familia also doubled while Luis Manon, Victor Maria and Joel Munoz each added a base hit.

Helena with a 10-spot in the 2nd. As bad as their pitching has been though I'm not 100% confident they can hold that. Youth being served though - McClanahan and Henry a combined 5-5 with two walks, three doubles (Henry) and a triple (McClanahan).

 

Mobile with 2 hits through 12, Biloxi with 11 hits, and Mobile has the lead 1-0 courtesy of three errors in the top of the 12th by Biloxi.

We learn RHP Josh Pennington to be scratched from his Tuesday start - bummer, and hopefully not serious.

An early scoring barrage against Brewers' starter Mike Gonzalez put the team into a hole they didn't come close to digging out of. Gonzalez' career with the organization has been marked by a series of blow-ups. This is the 5th time in 20 appearances that he's given up at least 7 runs. He's given up at least 4 runs in half of his appearances. He's a talented kid, but there is also clearly something amiss.

 

Youngsters Cam Robinson, Justin Bullock, and Wilfred Salaman pitched the final 7 innings and allowed no runs on just 3 hits.

 

In what has become a theme, there wasn't much happening for the Brewers' offense. Yeison Coca had two singles and Tyler Lawrence got the only extra base hit, a double. The team did walk 7 times, including 2 from Je'Von Ward.

Quick Summary:

BILOXI, MS - The Biloxi Shuckers started their final homestand of the season with a tough loss on Monday night, getting a career-best start from Corbin Burnes but falling 1-0 to the Mobile BayBears in 12 innings. The home team outhit the BayBears 12-2 but committed four errors, including three in the 12th. The Shuckers have now played in a league-leading 22 extra-inning games, falling to 12-10 in such games.

 

Biloxi loses ground to first-place Jacksonville, who beat the Birmingham Barons on Monday to maintain a half-game lead over Mobile in the South Division with 14 games to play. The Shuckers are 1.5 games back of first place.

Burnes was terrific again, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning and tossing a career-high 8.0 two-hit innings. He lowered his season ERA to 1.57, good for second-best in all of Minor League Baseball. His eight strikeouts also matched a season-high.
