Definitive list:

GOOD - Braun, Santana.

PROBABLY GOOD - Shaw(been only one year), Arcia, Aguilar, Pina.

PROBABLY NOT BAD - Broxton, Perez.

BAD - Villar, thames (for position), Sogard.

:laughing :laughing oh my!! I love Braun and Santana but they are the tops of your list for defense? I hope I'm misunderstanding this.

Reds go up! Cubs will probably come back though, they always come back

Reds have walked the first 2 hitters in the bottom of the 8th...

Got out of it. Who is red's closer??

Chap.... oh wait. Who knows?!?

It's his definitive list.....not defensive list. It's still silly though

Thames is bad but Perez is probably not bad.......lol..ok

Santana has been only good 1 year too.. same as Shaw.

Played a big role in getting the lead...

Standards for villar have hit rock bottom!

I think given the matchup, Counsell just wanted to load up with as many lefties in the lineup as possible, especially when he's been swinging a hot bat. I doubt it will become a regular thing.

He wasn't overmatched in CF so he did his job there and Broxton gave us a great AB with the insurance run off the bench. Happy with both today.

How do you know Broxton was going to be so much better? You are just hating to hate. Why? Can't you like...be positive?

1. I know broxton won't lead off. That makes him better.

2. No I'm hating because this was a bad decision. Didn't bite mke in the butt thank god but it was still a dumb decision. Want a lefty bat... not enough reason to start a dude in CF who hasn't even been shagging balls there (per his words) all year. This was 4 day sample size generated wing it foolishness. That is desperate management. 1 ball was hit to villar... I'm grateful it was boring out there. His bat cooled off... stunning! He got fat on the reds. Don't care. 4 games, don't care. This was a bad decision and bad decisions bite you in the butt more often than not. Throwing a guy out there in CF vs flare hitting pitt and soft tossing davies. Making sure you keep villars season long slumping high K bat in the lineup at leadoff. Think of that and tell me its wise.

At least we know broxton can field the position at CF caliber. Walker can lead off... he doesn't swing at crap.

Villar last week: .389/.450/.667/1.117

Broxton last week: .154/.267/.385/.651

Villar last two weeks: .308/.357/.500/.857

Broxton last two weeks: .250/.341/.472/.814

Yeah. Rock bottom :rolleyes . Add in the fact there was a righty on the mound and Counsell was looking for more offense. And most likely Villar is just as good defensively if given the innings in CF.

I'm stunned no one in a page of responses mentioned Villar was in no way part of the brewers scoring a run tonight... nor did he save one. Yet you said he was a big part of them taking the lead? Rock bottom expectations for Villar... understand now? Did he cheer on Pina or motivate Broxton? Is that how he contributes in a big way these days?

Also... your last week for Villar is hinged on his last 4 games. He has 5 other ab last week 1-5... so 4 games of 2-5 3-5 1-5 1-3 add 2bb in those games.... thats your whole last week. But wait 2 weeks.... only adds 5 more ab... also 1-5. Maybe we should throw a parade that he walked twice in the last 3 games coming into tonight.... cuz prior to that it was 33ab no walks. LEADOFF HITTER! Pitch 4 tonight was 8 inches outside if not more... 3-1 got hacked to 2-2...

But yeah for 4 games he looked good... got fat on cincy... who didnt?.... and the other 10 ab in the last 2 weeks don't overshadow that. He's had multiple little flashes like the last 4 games... one that started with cincy.... and he's yet to have a month over 243 average... and he don't walk.

Is broxton better... nope he too has been trash most of this year... but he's a MLB caliber CF... (I'm sorry your assumption that villar should be able to play it as good with more experience isn't really all that reassuring).... and broxton does is sucking in the 7 hole... not leading off.

I honestly think there hasn't been this much hate for a Brewer player since Jose Hernandez or Jose Valentin. Betancourt came close, but the sheer hate many fans have whenever Villar is in the line-up is almost deafening. Come on guys, he's a Brewer, he's young, and he put up superstar-level numbers last year. Give the guy a chance to be a contributor to what is turning out to be a pretty dang interesting team this year!

I actually think the irrational hate for Broxton this year surpasses the hate for Villar. Broxton has been easily a better player than Villar this year by pretty much any statistical measure and yet to some he is the one that is garbage and shouldn't be seeing the lineup.

He's going to be (pacewise) a 20/20 centerfielder with about a .740 OPS and 1.5 WAR, so if he's largely considered a disappointment for that I'd like to see what he does in a year where he isn't a disappointment.
