Final: Kane County 4, Wisconsin 3

Late Kane County Rally Beats Rattlers

Cougars top Wisconsin 4-3 with three-run eighth inning

Wisconsin Box Score

Demi Orimoloye recorded another stolen base to move into third place in the Midwest League with 31 stolen bases on the season.

The home run from Devin Hairston marked his 2nd HR, but only his 4th extra base hit since joining the Rattlers.

Wisconsin Game Log

A familiar story for the Rattlers of late, take the lead early only to see it slip away. As Chris detailed in the game story, a couple of throwing errors on the same play tied the game in the 8th and set up the ultimate winning run on 3rd base.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

WV Brew wrapped up his daily Link Report Carolina work for us on Sunday - he'll be offline for some time as part of a move.

Huge thanks, not only was he there for us every day, but he stayed incredibly plugged in to the Mudcats via following them on MiLB.TV and audio, and provided multiple insights we would have not known otherwise.

Sorry that the prospect-laden team didn't translate into postseason contention, but it wasn't WV Brew's fault.

Huge props, sir.

Also, here's an excellent video / article focusing on catcher Payton Henry during the last road trip. And as you just read above, Sunday was another impressive day for the young man.

AZL Brewers 9, AZL Athletics 8 (10 innings)

AZL Brewers Boxscore

I fell asleep with the score 8-1 heading into the ninth, and assumed this one would be an easy victory for the good guys - nothing is easy in the AZL. Jake Smith had a forgettable outing trying to close out the game in the ninth, and Landon Holifield allowed the tying run to score in that same frame. The Brewers were able to win it in the 10th inning after scoring a run and seeing Holifield work out of a bases loaded, no out jam in the bottom half of the inning to keep the A's off of the board and out of the win column.

Julio Mendez got three hits for the Brewers, and had the team's only extra base hit as well, a double. Julian Jarrard and Je'Von Ward each had two singles. Jesus Lujano stole his league-leading 23rd and 24th bases on the season.

Phil Bickford made his 3rd rehab start, as noted a few posts above. Branden Nunn and Chase Williams both pitched well in relief.

Houdini:

AZL Athletics Bottom of the 10th

Nick Allen starts inning at 2nd base.

Ben Spitznagel singles on a bunt ground ball to pitcher Landon Holifield. Nick Allen to 3rd.

Lazaro Armenteros walks. Ben Spitznagel to 2nd.

Jake Lumley grounds into a force out, shortstop Yeison Coca to catcher Moises Perez. Nick Allen out at home. Ben Spitznagel to 3rd. Lazaro Armenteros to 2nd. Jake Lumley to 1st.

Austin Beck called out on strikes.

AZL Athletics center fielder Austin Beck ejected by HP umpire Bobby Tassone.

Alonzo Medina strikes out swinging.
