I still have no good grasp on what Eric Thames is. His hard contact is great, his K% and BB% are just all over the place. I can't tell if he is a terrible player or a good one and the sample is getting pretty large at this point.

Sogard is a MUCH better pinch hitter....... but he probably is gone when Walker gets here. Villar and his huge upside stays...... vomit.

Jonathan Villar, acccording to BR.com, is a .333 hitter as a sub with an OPS+ of 157. I imagine sub=pinchhitting.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd take Sogard over Villar this year. I love his approach, he is a Brady Clark-like hitter that this team really lacks.

Strikes out waaaaaaay too much, doesn't take pitches or walk much, not a defensive upgrade anywhere...... common'

Well just saying statistics say Sogard is not a MUCH better pinch hitter.

Braun is a much worse pinch hitter than Villar, by that logic. Statistics say Braun is hitting .000 this season.

Uh, it's not logic. It's math. It's factual that Villar has been quality as a sub this season. Not sure what you're debating.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

The issue is that the choice isn't just about this year. Sogard is a free agent, Villar has team control. Villar has no options and will get claimed by another team for sure. Which will sound controversial to some, but he's a guy with years of control remaining and who has the ability to have a season like his 2016 season. It may be unlikely that he has it again, but if you can get that upside for free (Or well, $50k), you do it. So a non-contender with aplayer who they can option to AAA to make room, will claim him for sure. If he doesn't pan out, they lose nothing.

So basically moving Villar to make room for Walker means that in 2018 we won't have either Walker, Villar or Sogard, and get nothing for any one of them. Moving Sogard to make room means we have Villar to either trade or give another shot, and we might well have Sogard in AAA still.

Villar is hitting .167 as a pinch hitter this season..... and yeah, it is logic that you are using. If you say Villar is better or as good as Sogard based on avg in limited pinch hit ABs, then Braun is waaaay worse than either. His avg is .000
