Brewer Minor League Free Agents After the 2017 Season

Mass Haas

I wouldn't be surprised if Burgos comes back. The club seems to value his presence in the system (sort of like Dillard).

I'm sure the Brewers would be more than happy to have him back, just not on the 40 man is all. When they can find suckers, I mean veterans that are willing to pitch in CS on sporadic days, they are always welcome.

Having seen big league in action in 2017, RHP's Michael Blazek and David Goforth, along with OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis, did not have to wait until five days after the World Series to declare free agency, and each has done so as of 10/2.

RHP Wily Peralta declares as well, as of 10/3.

The only one of those guys that I may want to see back is Blazek. Sure he was horrible in his one spot start for the big club, but he looked good in he few relief outings for the Brewers, and had a fine year for Colorado Springs. Best of luck to Goforth, Wily and Captain Kirk.

I thought Goforth had a shot to be better than he was, I still think he does. I'd like to see him back, though I suspect he'll take his chances in another organization along with the rest of that group.

Via Miller Park Prospects - ORTEGA SET TO JOIN RAFTERS

The reason that post from a few days ago is relevant is because it reminds folks about RHP Jorge Ortega's background, including last August's Tommy John surgery.

The 24-year-old (25 next June), a career Brewer farmhand, is the first potential minor league free agent (list from the initial post in this thread) to re-sign a 2018 minor league contract with Milwaukee, as we've been able to learn.

There likely will be others, but none that we've been able to confirm as of yet.

Nice to see Jorge rewarded after his year-plus rehab process.
