Link Report for Friday 8/11

Mass Haas
I have no idea how Brown's delivery holds up as a starter, but his fastball movement is disgusting. I agree with NolanBrett currently that he's a reliever due to the delivery, but I am open to Brown being able to continue with his weird, head-whacking way of dealing as a starter. Nothing he throws is straight. Even the four seamer has some giddyap at the end.

I mean, via BrewerProspects, my word. My word.

My word is right, that is some serious wiffle ball-like action on display there

From the Biloxi game summary --

Despite the loss, the Shuckers won't lose ground to first-place Mobile if the BayBears lose their game at Pensacola. The Shuckers will either remain 1.0 game out of first or fall to 2.0 games back with 23 games to play.

Mobile did win, so the Shuckers are two games back.

Rattlers Beat Cougars

Aguilar delivers an RBI single with two outs and Wisconsin holds on for the win

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Folks, this game had more drama and baserunners than you might think at first glance. Enjoy Chris' summary, please, which includes:

Josh Pennington set a new single-game high for strikeouts in a game as he recorded nine over five scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and walked one, but was not around for the decision.

Wondering what the Brewers could acquire for a package of Dubon / Pennington / Coca today? Such value...

Colorado Springs Box Score

Lines for RHP's Paulo Espino and Tyler Cravy don't shine; CF Lewis Brinson, off on Thursday and didn't start Friday, pinch-hit in the 9th, entered on defense and committed his 6th error; Ivan De Jesus, Jr. reached base four times and his OBP is now .417...

Brewers Shut Out For First Time

Only runs score in eighth inning on a walk, wild pitch and passed ball

By Garrett Greene / Helena Brewers

Just like the Wisconsin write-up, a low-scoring game does not mean an uneventful summary. Take a peek.

AZL Brewers 7, AZL Giants 5

AZL Brewers Boxscore

Jon Olczak and Mitch Ghelfi began rehab stints with the Baby Brewers and the pitching staff just held onto the lead late for a win.

Karlos Morales had a second straight scoreless outing to begin his big league career, while Brendan Murphy/Mike Gonzalez had encouraging outings after enduring mostly rough 2017 campaigns.

Jesus Lujano lead the way on offense with 3 hits, including his 1st career home run (after 400+ PAs). Ghelfi homered as well. Julian Jarrard and Je'Von Ward each had two hits - one of Jarrard's was yet another double, which gives him 16 in just over 100 career PAs. Pat McInerney, Rob Henry, and Yeison Coca each smacked a double as well.
