What an action packed night!

Quality, not quantity. Some good things tonight with Bickford and Anderson on the mound, Lutz's big night, etc. Heck, even Demi had 2 hits to give him a little wiggle room above the Uecker-line.

Final: Orem 13, Helena 9

Just guessing this may be the only professional baseball game of 2017 in which the visiting team scored seven runs in the top of the 1st and lost.

Early Lead Evaporates In Loss

Helena Box Score

Through six Helena games, soon-to-be 19-year-old Tristen Lutz is sporting a 1.356 OPS. MiLB releases their videos in two waves daily, overnight and then mid-morning. Hopefully we get Lutz HR video later on.

One would think speed would be part of 2B Franly Mallen's game, but he stole only his first of the year here, and is only 13-for-28 in attempts going back 3.5 years to the start of his pro career in the DSL.

Helena Game Log

How the heck did these two teams play a 2-1 game the night before?

The offense strung together a bunch of hits in the third, added one more in the fourth, and the pitching held on to win. Julian Jarrard cracked his league-leading 15th double of the year. Jesus Lujano remains tied for the league lead in stolen bases, as he stole his 20th.

Phil Bickford made his second rehab start and exited around the 40 pitch mark again. Three walks and a hit in 1 2/3 innings, but no runs allowed.

Those of you following the system longer would know better, but seems to me the bats in lower minors (DSL, AZ, Helena) are the loudest they've ever? been.

I would agree wholeheartedly with this statement. I can't remember a year (at least in the past 6-8 years) where we've had this many intriguing young bats at the extreme lower levels. Now, time will tell how well these kids adjust as they move up and face better pitching - but it's certainly very exciting to see.

yes and no. I remember Richardson, Festa, and many others. There was a draft or two in the mid-00's in which the Brewers took a bunch of college kids that raked in rookie ball and looked like our potential Money Ball draft (good obp, older players, etc). Then they got to A-Ball and that was the end of it. I can't believe we have a team this good in Arizona. Have we ever had this many wins in 2 seasons, let alone a single one?
