Broxton recalled will get bulk of starts in CF...Brinson could go back down tomorrow

Brewcrewin07

By the way when the number one prospect in your system with over 2,300 minor league PA, comes to the big leagues and looks lost going 5 for 45 you have a problem. This is our number one prospect? He passes the athletic eyeball test, but they need a baseball player, not a wide receiver.

Phillips at least looked like he belonged and now he's back at AAA. Dumbfounded.

Good lord, overreact much? You utter some whoppers but this one may have taken the cake.

This writing off brinson phillips stuff is nonsense. I'm also not going to grumble too much about them being in AAA. The number 1 biggest issue for both of them at this point is that they chase. Where ever they are I'd make a point of making them watch every swing they made at a ball 10x every single game. Drill it in their head. Dont make it harder on yourself! If those 2 can oblige you deal Broxton this offseason for whatever you can get.

When brinson has stayed within himself he's made a lot of hard contact. Phillips doesn't seem lost either.

Despite their numbers being a little to a lot worse... they look much better at the plate than villar.

0 for 3 for Broxton first game back with 2 Ks. On the surface, not good. Looking a little deeper though, one of the K's looked like he took some pitches off the plate that were called strikes, and his other out was a loud hard out that could have been extra bases. Did show good patience in his late inning walk.

We'll see what today brings for him.

Briggs also said for a very, very long time how much of a downgrade Santana was to Khris Davis. How much of the 5-45 came in his first stint where his eyes were wide open and he was trying way too hard, which he even admitted. Since he's come back he hit the 2HR in back to back games (I heard silence on your end at that point) and looked more patient and relaxed. His pinch hit last night he was robbed of a RBI double smoking it down the 1b line. How was his defense since he came up or was he only playing on one side of the ball? How about him drawing BB's late in the games when we needed runners? Guess those don't count either because he wasn't swinging the bat. He oozes talent

brinson possibly sent down when garza activated; if he survives that cut, not sure how he'd stick when a starting pitcher will need to be recalled saturday. advantage to brinson sticking around through friday: the dh spot.

This is really dumb. Maybe they are trying to re-coop some Broxton value to move him in the offseason, but Brinson deserves an extended look. Since Brinson's first demotion (June 25th) he has outhit Broxton in AAA (193 wRC vs. 180 wRC) and MLB (101 wRC vs. -9 wRC :ohwell ). Brinson is the better option currently shortterm and longterm.

Brinson and Phillips should have been put into a platoon thru the end of the Minnesota games where one could play LF while Braun DHs. I am tired of Broxton. His two hot streak a season are not enough to justify his offensive shortcomings. If the Brewers do not think Phillips and Broxton are ready, they should have acquired a CF at the deadline. Phillips should have gotten a better look when he seemed to be adjusting to MLB.

I'll guess that Broxton, Brinson and Phillips would be about even for the remainder of this year. In other words, it's hard to say which of them will be hot over the next couple of months, and which will lay an egg. Brinson is obviously the top choice to be the CF going forward and I think they really like Phillips, so the future will belong to them.

Since the odds are probably about even as to who will perform better over the next two months, and playing Broxton could greatly increase his trade value this offseason, I understand why they'd do this. Letting Broxton play well in AAA would do nothing other than make other GMs think he's a "AAAA guy," while Brinson and Phillips can use what they learned at the MLB level to improve a bit so they're more ready to take over when they're brought back up.

If Broxton doesn't get hot, then he will probably have about the same value he currently has, as someone with a ton of potential who could be appealing to a rebuilding team. People have seen what he is capable of, so his trade value probably won't go down much, but could go up quite a bit over the remainder of the season.

"The most successful (people) know that performance over the long haul is what counts. If you can seize the day, great. But never forget that there are days yet to come."
