Baseball Bob- Brewers' No. 1 Fan

Boy, some really negative comments about someone we have never met. Jeesh.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I'd love to say, "Way to go, Bob!" Great Brewers fan and all that... doesn't sell to Cubs fans. He is a better Brewers fan than me, no doubt. Loyal thru thick and thin.

But, The claims are outrageous! Never missed a pitch of Brewers baseball? A pitch? By radio or live ( does he have tv, by the way?). He blasts Braun, the organization, and ownership. He says you can't rank one fan over the other, but then puts himself at top of list. His dad is in the emergency room, for crying out loud and this dude is waiting for the extra inning game to finish? Yeah, I'll jump on the bash pile here, Brewers fan or not.

I will be looking for him often in the crowd when a lefthanded batter is up and the camera angle shows his seat.

Was watching the game tonight (sadly I live in Cardinals territory so it was their broadcast) and you can't unsee this guy once you've read the story. He's in the background whenever a left-handed batter is up.

And he was wearing a Brewer jacket. Thought he didn't wear team gear?

I'm reminnded of the guy who eats a Big Mac every day for lunch and dinner.

He seemed rather joyless in this story, though in truth, that could just be my interpretation.

I believe that is the Don Gorske reference from the OP. Maybe these guys just know what they want in life.

Boy, some really negative comments about someone we have never met. Jeesh.

I don't need to formally meet someone in person to have an idea of how they operate. Maybe it's because of my career and reading people rather well without having to actually meet them. Everybody has "negative" thoughts, at a minimum, about people they've never formally met before.

I have no issue with this dude's love of baseball and attending every game that spans my entire life outside of 3 months. Don't care if he's potentially afraid of flying, or simply has no interest in traveling or whether he's quirky or not. This guy isn't socially awkward; he's plenty comfortable in social settings. Watch the video interview - his tone, nonverbal comm. Look at the still photos - his pose, facial expressions. He's not afraid to mingle publicly; he just chooses to live a simple life and not spend money outside of his Brewers tix. I have no issues with any of these things. Whatever makes him happy; those are his life choices.

I have issues with him attempting to portray himself in a certain light. It's clear as day reading the article and watching the interview that things don't line up - he absolutely is embellishing his stories and even lying in certain parts (someone above already called him out for wearing a Brewers jacket at the game last night when he said he doesn't own one piece of apparel and always wears slacks/shirt-polo - are we to believe that the day this article came out he was given the gift of a Brewers jacket?). Never missing one pitch? Hard BS on that one. Won't say he's the biggest fan because if you even attend one game you're a fan but then is pissed when Braun doesn't call him. Piggybacking off that, he calls BS on the randomness of the 100 season ticket holders called because he got wind that NM's CEO and one of the two owners of Kelly's Bleachers got a call AND NOT HIM. (side note: there have been articles and interviews from season ticket holders like him discussing the conversation they had with Braun. just because NM and Kelly's Bleachers got calls doesn't mean they were part of the 100 season ticket holder calls - could have been separate.) And if he's not truthful about something so trivial as those examples, or contradicting his overall sentiment about not wanting to be labeled as the biggest fan and on par with all other fans, then what other nonsense is in that story? I still find it extremely odd that he's on a first name basis with the owner and his wife, recalling a specific story referring to her as Debbie while them also referring to him as Baseball Bob, and inviting him to fly on their private jet to that specific party yet they're not interviewed for this story?

The author also gave a horrendous interview and clearly left an absurd amount of stones unturned. The lack of details is astounding.

Fair enough. Just thought the bashing was a bit harsh.

I was going to post relatively the same thing. I think it even states in the article that people get mad at him. I don't get it. The guys living his life the way he wants to live it and not hurting anyone else. Good for him.

Was watching the game tonight (sadly I live in Cardinals territory so it was their broadcast) and you can't unsee this guy once you've read the story.

Not true and not sure who you were looking at. I was at Tuesday night's game and he was in our view. He was wearing a shirt that was blue on top and white on the bottom (or vice-versa?). I see this guy a lot at games and I have never seen him wear any type of Brewer apparel.

I first thought this article might be about that d-bag they show all the time on TV above the visitors dugout

I think maybe you are referring to the "Door man"? If so, I'm pretty sure he posts on this site on occasion and from what I can tell he seems like a nice guy.

User in-game thread post in 1st inning of 3rd game of the 2022 season: "This team stinks"

Doorman hasn't been all that present at games since the team went downhill. I notice him on occasion though. There was a group of guys in about his spot during I think the Saturday Cubs game who were really giving the Cubs a hard time after strikeouts. Seemed over the top for me if there was some crass or over the top things being said while they were yelling at players. But who knows, maybe it was just innocent 'sit down' type stuff.

Right, I think Bob Skube is mistaken about where this guy's seat is exactly.

He also basically zinged the Brewers by pointing out he never pays for any concessions.

Bottom line, I mean look. He could be a great guy, who knows, but you're definitely going to get a healthy dosage of strange with anyone who's entire life revolves around one thing. Not wanting to take meds because you may miss a pitch in the bathroom? Ummm....ok.

If I lived in Story Hill and could walk to games, frankly, I'd probably eat at home or elsewhere too. I would want to stay hydrated, though.

The thing that turns me off the most is the "I won't get a physical because I might need medication that might interrupt my ballgames" line of thinking. Dude. You go undiagnosed with something, your ballgame watching might be a lot more disrupted than some bathroom breaks.

Otherwise, the guy applies his quirkiness to the Brewers. I can think of worse targets, and apart from his ex-wife, are there any victims?

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

95% sure he moved. Drew Olson is buddies with him and talks about him occasionally.

I noticed those guys on Saturday night as well. They seemed like they were a little over the top as you said. But in my case I find that to be fantastic. Screw the Cubs.

The replay of Garza striking out Wong confirmed Baseball Bob hasn't seen every pitch because it clearly showed his head turned to the side talking to the person next to him. He missed the entire pitch #gameover

Time to pack it up, I guess

Meh, I'm happy for the guy if it makes him happy. I'm not sure scheduling your life around a baseball team makes you the #1 fan but whatever, it's something that obviously has worked in his life. Some of the stuff sounds a bit exaggerated but really, how would I know.

For me, the business-like scheduled regime would take a lot of the fun out of things.
