That pinch hit shows you what CC thinks of Brinson right now.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Double play to end it. Losing two of three to the Cubs at home with all the Cubs fans in Miller Park rejoicing. I wouldn't want to be at the game going home right now to witness it.

Over/under on this team finishing fifteen back? Zero mental toughness. None. Offense just lays down softly, quietly, and gently.

Offense couldn't have been more loud and clear in their message this series: 'We are not ready for a pennant race or a playoff series '

Yup...

And if aguilar gets on.... perez for the pitcher...

Good time to announce you dont believe in the kid.

Pitchers deserved a sweep.... our hitters struck themselves out constantly this series.

Barnes 0-2 pitch last night was awful... despite that you can't blame the arms AT ALL..

Wasn't CC either... terrible ab after terrible ab.

+1. I know deep down we aren't there yet. But I still have "enthusiasm" and get myself worked up.

Slumps happen. The offense has avoided any prolongued slump all year long. This is just happening at a bad time. Its not an indication of anything other than theyre in a slump.

Lol sorry but it's always at a "bad" time for the Brewers. Players change and they're still a constant let down. This team wasn't supposed to compete, we can all say that and that's fine. But how they have played out of the break is just the Brewers franchise in a nutshell.

Ehh.....it's more of an indication that this spin. Looks more like a regression to the mean than a simple slump unless people think Sogard was actually Rogers Hornsby and Thames was Barry Bonds.

If you come up small in a big series it's not a good sign. Which is a shame because our pitching staff came up huge.

It is a shame that the guys are just not hitting consistently right now. First place for the Crew was nice while it lasted and we'll have that at least.

Now to take care of the Cards or else they'll take over second place from the Crew.

Its not that thames has been poor mans adam dunn instead of puljos. Its not sogard regressing. Its a near all inclusive lack of plate discipline for an entire series. Take the a few more bad pitches and its easily a 2-1 series win. But the cubs would have been behind in the count a disgustingly high rate had our swings not bailed them out.

Slumps happen. 31 consecutive failed RISP opportunities does not just 'happen' to an anemic offense, let alone a good one. And the fact that it happened in the biggest series of the year was not some freak coincidence of a bad thing at a bad time. It happens because players pressed, got too tight, lost focus and gave us horrible ABs in key situations.

They couldn't handle the pressure of this series. It may be the elephant in the room but they simply choked. Honestly, the Cubs' pitching wasn't even all that good this series.

How does everyone know it was pressure and they arent "mentally tough?" How do people know this and just state it factually? In 162 games teams have bad patches and sometimes it happens in big series. Invariably when it does, the armchair qbs seem to know without a doubt that these guys lack toughness or some magic mental ability to want to win.

This is a great post. People seem to forget that the Cubs were just as bad with guys on base in this series, I guess they all lack mental toughness too. It was an incredibly close three game series that came down to a few bounces one way or the other. Contreras really came through today with that clutch hit that went about 50 feet to break the scoreless tie. Give me a break.

My girlfriend and her hubby were there today. Until our team is good consistently I won't go to a Brewer/Cub game at Miller Park for all the tea in China. :tongue
