Final: DSL Indians/Brewers 14, DSL Cubs1 3

As Jim mentioned, the Brewers full squad was rained out today, but the co-op team put a beat down on the Cubs (hopefully a sign of things to come tonight), including a nine run ninth inning, in a 14-3 victory.

DSL Indians/Brewers Box Score

Wilmy De Jesus got the start and went three innings, allowing three runs (two earned). Daniel Acosta worked the final two scoreless frames and gave up just one hit while striking out two. Seven different Brewers finished with at least one hit, with Jose Pena going 2-for-3 with two walks and four runs scored. Rafael Brito and Bryan Dimas each added a triple while Bryan Torres singled, drew a pair of walks, and knocked in two runs.

Injury updates on Tyrone Taylor and Corbin Burnes at the links.

And Adam McCalvy with a Cody Ponce update --

Speaking of Carolina, No. 21 Brewers prospect Cody Ponce returned to the mound for the Mudcats on Thursday for the first time in 17 days after missing time with a left oblique strain. Ponce allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three batters in two scoreless innings.

Drake Owenby has quietly been very good over the last two seasons. Unfortunately this one got off to a late start due to injury.

Not saying he's a star prospect, but Kyle Wren has a .381 OBP on top of a combined .412 OBP last year. Has cheap 4th OF written all over him. At 26 he's not young, but not old by any means.

Ninth inning comeback falls short in third straight loss to Blue Wahoos

Dustin DeMuth smacked a two-run homer in the ninth to pull the Shuckers within a run

By Biloxi Shuckers

Dustin DeMuth hit his fourth home run of the season on Friday night in Pensacola (Mark P Driscoll)

Biloxi Shuckers Box Score

Quick Summary:

It was a bag of mixed results for Freddy Peralta. While he managed a quality start and struck out six batters he also walked four batters. It was a very quiet day for the offense before the 9th. The Shuckers went into the 9th down 4-1 when Angel Ortega doubled followed by a Dustin DeMuth homerun to make it 4-3. Unfortunatley that is where the rally ended with the Shuckers dropping the game to Pensacola.

Pitching Summary:

On the mound, Freddy Peralta (6.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 6 K) started the game while Quintin Torres-Costa (1.0 IP, 2 K) and Tayler Scott (1.0 IP, 2 H) provided the relief.

Hitting Summary:

Dustin DeMuth (1-4, R, 2 RBI, HR)

Freddu Peralta (1-2, RBI)

Angel Ortega (2-4, R, 2B, RBI)

Biloxi Shuckers Game Log

DeMuth makes noise in the 9th as Shuckers fall to Pensacola 4-3.

Biloxi Top of the 9th

Pitching Change: Zack Weiss replaces Brennan Bernardino, batting 9th.

Angel Ortega doubles (12) on a ground ball to left fielder Josh VanMeter, deflected by pitcher Zack Weiss.

The Shuckers' Chris Harris explains that as poorly as Biloxi has played in the 2nd half, they'd still be in the playoffs if the season ended today.

Since (1st half winner) Pensacola would also be the 2nd half winner, the team in the division with second best overall record gets in. That's Biloxi.

Final: Tacoma 4, Colorado Springs 3

That's a reasonable Mountain-based score, too bad a loss, but a series win --

Sox Fall Late

Phillips records two hits in first Triple-A game since July 9

By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox

Brief text, so here you go:

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox used a seventh-inning rally to tie the game, but a 10th-inning solo home run from Gordon Beckham gave the Tacoma Rainiers a 5-4 win in 10 innings in front of 5,367 at Security Service Field Friday night.

Colorado Springs (63-40) scored their first run of the game in the fourth inning on some heads-up hustle from Brett Phillips. With two outs, Chris Colabello grounded an infield single to Tacoma third baseman Danny Muno. With Phillips rounding third, Muno's throw home bounced into the Sky Sox dugout, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

The hosts came alive offensively in the seventh inning, scoring two runs to tie the game at three. Andrew Susac hit a towering solo shot to the light pole in left field for his eighth home run of the season.

After a two-out Kyle Wren triple, Mauricio Dubon grounded a RBI single up the middle to extend his hitting streak to four games.

The Sox head back on the road for eight games over a nine-day stretch against the PCL Pacific Southern Division. Saturday night begins 2017's lone four-game series at Cashman Field against the Las Vegas 51s, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets. RHP Brandon Woodruff (6-5, 4.79 ERA) looks to bounce back against Las Vegas RHP Jonathan Albaladejo (0-0, 0.00).

Colorado Springs Box Score

Kyle Wren now 22-for-26 in SB attempts, Brewers still "own" him for two more years, he's pretty much trapped/blocked unless Rule 5 comes to his rescue. He probably didn't think the trade from his dad's former Braves organization would lead to such a situation.

The Brewers trusted 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Harold Chirino, with only one DSL season under his belt, with a rotation spot in Montana, but it has been a major struggle.
