Brewers showing interest in Curtis Granderson

The only reason the Brewer's are checking in on Granderson is because their is a high possibility their sending Brinson somewhere.

Brinson goes and guarantee Granderson will be the new centerfielder.

If Brinson is traded then Phillips, Broxton, or Perez would be better options than giving up something for Granderson.

Only way this makes sense would be as a replacement if we trade an outfielder, or if Granderson salary relief is combined with another asset from the Mets (a pitcher).

Kinda sounds like something that was brought up in passing and some source thought they'd impress a reporter by saying "hey the Brewers asked about Granderson".

Nothing to see here.

Makes some sense if Brett Phillips is going to be the one traded.

Granderson bats left and can play anywhere in the OF including CF.

He could either platoon with Brinson or be insurance if Brinson can't hit over .200 again this time up.

In that case, he could also platoon with Broxton.

Our current three OFers are RH and Granderson is LH. Granderson=veteran 4th OFer

I think the rumor is true. Could be used as late inning LH pinch hitter and then replace one of the OFers when he comes in. Possibly Santana as a defensive replacement. Having a lefty OF bat when we sit Braun 5 times a week would be nice to throw into the mix. Also allows better defense than using Thames/Perez etc. too.

Might be a sign the LH hittting Brett Phillips is being shopped in bigger deals.

Yeah, he's one available vet bat out there that can play CF and if Brinson's up for good which I think he is, it would be nice to ease him in by having a vet LH bat rather than Phillips in a soft platoon to face tough RHP. He won't cost much of anything either other than salary.

If Phillips is traded, I'd rather have Denard Span than Granderson though if the Giants made him available. Broxton for Span perhaps?

I think Stearns is just punishing the Brewers for yesterday’s game. It is just an open threat. “You guys play terrible, I’ll bring in Curtis Granderson. I’ll do it! If you embarrass me against the Cubs this weekend …. I’ll bring in Shane Victorino too!. Shape up!”

Can someone remind me why Cravy is considered a "cry baby" again? Don't remember this.

Cravy said he might seek “a 9 to 5 job where I get treated like a human, at this point.”

I heard Walmart is hiring.

Add of course, Wilmer...

How about this proposed trade:

Mets get: Maverick Phillips

Brewers get: Curtis Granderson, Jacob DeGrom, Bobby Bonilla’s remaining contract

Keep going, you're on fire.

Haha ok thanks. I remembered the Wilmer moment, just had forgotten anything about Cravy doing this in spring training. Guessing he was just venting but who knows?

I'm paraphrasing a little here, but I heard a short interview with Stearns this morning where he said:

"I try not to pay too much attention to the rumors... I think that we've been linked to everyone who is available in a trade... Some of them are true and most are completely wrong"

He also said that they are still actively talking to a number of teams.

Make of that what you will...

"Don't force him to choose between Chris Smalling and Phil Jones. It's like asking someone to choose between which STD to contract!"

I find it gross that we are even considering a move like this. I hope it is just fake news. This move would make me gag...

MLB trade rumors says Span is available. If Granderson might be a target, why not go after Span who's better at this stage.

Why go after either of these guys? I see a slight upgrade at the absolute most with either player, a majority of any value we would get would be veteran presence for our younger guys. We also lose roster versatility sticking a veteran on the 25 man. I can't think of any good reason we should be considering adding a veteran outfielder at this point.

Cespedes would make more sense here if the Brewers were targeting an OF from the Mets though that makes very little sense for the Brewers unless Braun or Santana were traded. Trading Santana just to add Cespedes doesn't really make all that much sense a little bit more sense than Granderson.
