Broxton makes great plays but he just can't hit. CC needs to make a decision about the CF position.

I don't think it's CC's decision to make. That being said, this teams needs offense and a change up out there makes sense.

Even though you're against playing Thames less?

I'll point you, once again, to his July stats and his overall. Why would he play less?

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Well, a decision to sell might be much easier if they keep this up for another week. Not as talented as the Cubs and falling further and further behind in the wildcard.

I'm not sure the Brewers have anything to realistically sell. Nobody wants Braun with all the injuries. Anderson is injured. Most of the other players doing well are pieces for next year and beyond. I guess we can sell Garza but not really sure what we would get for him.

I don't want them to buy at this point but it seems more like a stand pat type of situation.

I mean, you could sell Knebel and/or Barnes if some team offers a haul. You could potentially sell Thames. I mean, every player should always be available because you never know when some team is going to blow you away with an offer.

Garza has some value though not all that much. I wouldn't expect anything higher than a Cordell like player for Garza so a C or C+ type of a prospect at best. Santana and Shaw have the most value. Nelson would be another option to sell high on though I wouldn't expect anything more than a B level prospect for him.

well the brewers accomplished one big job keep my interest until Training camp opens

Pretty much, but I'd like to at least see them stay within striking distance until early September to keep things interesting.

I fully expect the Cubs to win this division by at least 5 games at this point. But it would be nice to at least have a pennant race.

For starters, he makes Chris Carter look clutch. He has a .162 AVG with RISP

Great. Hopefully that improves. His OPS is 1.038 in July and you want to bench that as the teams offense is on life support. :rolleyes

I don't think it's time to blow up this team. They have very good young players with great chemistry.

This team needs help obviously but Stearns needs to add giving up mid to lower level prospects, not break up the Crew.

I'm just disappointed the team falls apart just as they gain respectability. And it'd be okay if they were good games that they came up short, but with the Brewers they're constantly shooting themselves in the foot

We currently have 6 players on our 25 man roster 25 and under. One barely pitches (Hader), one barely plays (Phillips) one is a good defensive shortstop with a bad bat, another is a reliever, another is a starter who tonight notwithstanding has been horrible and another is a really good hitter but kind of a bad defensive outfielder.

I would hardly say we have very good young players on this roster.

Yep. We are not a good enough team to be able to afford to lose the 1 run and extra inning games, but that's exactly what we're doing. We need the close ones, we're not getting them.

They are on life support because no one can hit with runners on, including Thames with his .162 AVG w/RISP. The 18 ks in his last 9 games aren't appealing either.

And Aguilar has an OPS of .927 in July and he doesn't get consistent ABs

Shaw, Santana, Aguilar, Arcia, Nelson, Knebel, Hader are all very good young players and are keepers IMO.

Broxton is a defensive specialist best used as a replacement at the end of close games. I'm afraid that is what he is. Villar, I just don't know about him. He makes such stupid decisions sometimes but he was great last year. Off year this year. I just don't know. I'm glad he turned down the extension.

Also add Perez. He can play multiple positions and very well. Another keeper.

I don't consider 27 or 28 year olds young. I consider them in the prime of their career.

I will take it a step farther,28 year olds are entering their decline these days. Prime is 25-27. The game has changed and gotten much younger.

Yeah, I didn't really look into it but I remember reading something for hitters that power and discipline tend to peak a little later but everything else peaks earlier and the peak age of a hitter overall is 27 or 28 so I went with that. I think that article was from like 2003 or something so things might have changed since then.

Four losses by a combined seven runs. They've been quite unlucky to say the least. Sometimes bloopers fall in. The great thing about building a 5.5 game lead is you can survive a little stretch like this and still have a lead.

What lead? The only thing that matters it the L column which is tied right now.
