Cubs in Pursuit of Zach Britton?

Recommended Posts

Not worried. Be fantastic if they blew more assets on a luxury they really don't need.

^This. Of course , they have the payroll to retain these players when their contracts are up, but I'm all for the Cubs depleting their farm system.

You're not worried about our biggest rival and closest challenger going out and getting quality major leaguers who will help them for multiple years because they are trading away prospects who are currently in A ball? I wish I shared your optimism.

The Brewers don't need to, and should not, mortgage their future for the sake of matching the Cubs move for move. But the fact is if they are serious about winning this season, which in my opinion they should be, then they should definitely look to make some moves to shore up some holes.

Why would anyone be worried? The Cubs are going to trade for lots of players and sign even more. They are financially in a better place and probably always will be. It is what it is.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Let the Cubs pay the big premium to add the closer. Brad Brach is just one step down and is a reliever I'd love to see in a Brewer uniform. Will be interested to see how high the price goes on him (could very well end up fetching much more than I'd be willing to give up).

Any team trading with Cubs must ask for major league young talent.....there system may be bottom five now.... traded last two really good prospects. They look more like us few years ago minus a player coming like Arica. Our number 15 prospect could prob be #1 for them.

Proud member since 2003 (geez ha I was 14 then)

FORMERLY BrewCrewWS2008 and YoungGeezy don't even remember other names used

Cubs just driving up the price, they know the Brewers are looking for pitching.

Wouldn't be so sure. Cubs could use a setup man for Davis. Create a lethal 8th/9th situation to go along with their top 4 of Q, Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks. They might just be in a position to repeat.
