MIA-SF-MIL 3 team proposal

Alright, I'll preface this with an obvious statement. This is mostly an unrealistic scenario with too many moving parts to ever happen. So, it's mostly for my entertainment.

Miami, in the midst of (hopefully) an ownership change and a potential fire sale (again) have been rumored to be wanting to move Stanton's contract. Who wouldn't. Obviously it would be easiest to find somebody to just take the contract and have them ship a token player or prospect back in return but.......

San Francisco has reportedly inquired about Stanton and has an obvious need.

Milwaukee: Could help facilitate a deal by taking on some salary from the Giants (Samardzija) and providing Miami with some prospects which maybe wouldn't be available to them if dealing with a single team only really wanting to take on the contract for Stanton and not give players.

Miami gives: Stanton, Straily, Phelps Get: Phillips, Cordell, Dubon, Peralta, Beede, Arroyo

Giants Give: Samardzija, Beede, Arroyo GET: Stanton

Brewers Give: Phillips, Cordell, Dubon, F. Peralta GET: Samardzija, Straily, Phelps

The Marlins get a slew of MLB ready or close to it players to field when they continue their sale and clear Stanton's contract. The Giants get their guy and the Brewers do some one-stop shopping and fill the remainder of their needs this season without emptying the farm and controlling them for more than a year.

Very creative.

Could actually work.

My main issue with it is that I think Miami could get close to that return for JUST Straily.

I think Loria will leave Stanton on the Marlins books and let the new ownership decide what to do with him.

Stanton has a full no-trade clause he'd have to waive.

The deal highly benefits the Brewers.

The Giants may feel that if they are taking on all of Stanton's contract, they wouldn't need to give up their top two prospects on top of it.

Giancarlo Stanton isn't moving anywhere unless someone backs up a diamond mine dump truck right into Marlins Park. That return would be a joke to the Marlins for Stanton alone. Two other guys...?

Look at it from the Giants perspective. They get Stanton for Samardzija and two decent prospects? If that is all it takes I will trade for Stanton instead. Yes the contract is huge, but he still is a premier hitter. Not cheap.

Brinson/Hader/Ortiz/Diaz for Stanton - Get it done

The Marlins would take that deal in less than a heartbeat.

Unless the Marlins eat about $100M of that contract, they aren't getting anywhere close to that return.

This isn't fantasy baseball fellas. lol

Stanton has a potentially franchise crippling contract that is heavily backloaded.

He has negative surplus trade value.

Yes, I'm serious.

His contract would be a possible death-knoll for a small market team like the Brewers.
