Link Report for Monday 7/17 - Timber Rattler Early Matinee

AZL Brewers 8, AZL Rangers 2

AZL Brewers Boxscore

Home runs from Keston Hiura and Pat McInerney powered the Cerverceritos' offense past the Rangers and ended a three game slide. It was Hiura's 4th home run and McInerney's league-leading 6th. Hiura also singled to compete his 4th consecutive multi-hit game. Kenny Corey was on base three times with two singles and a walk. Corey's .520 OBP is good enough for third in the league. Yup, just third.

Hiura's 1.339 OPS leads the AZL.

Joaquin De La Cruz no-hit the Rangers through 4 innings and finished the game with yet another nice pitching like. He gave up a hit, two walks, and struck out nine. Splitter power. De La Cruz' 2.63 ERA is good for 11th in the league.

Brewers pitchers struck out 16 and walked 3.

The 1st half magic number is down to 9.

Timely 4 hit night from Taylor, the forgotten guy in the Brewer system who's been raking since his return. If he comes around, dealing Brinson wouldn't be as painful. He's ready to move on the AAA isn't he?

Extremely small sample, he hasn't done much of anything his previous couple of years in Biloxi. Finish the year strong and start in AAA next year. Still highly doubt he is a 40 man add after the season.

Taylor isn't remotely close to being similar to Brinson. Dealing Brinson wouldn't be as painful because Phillips is ready to go. Taylor is like the 9th best OF prospect in the system
