Pitching Summary:

On the mound, Luis Ortiz (3.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 2 K, HR) started the game while Javier S (3.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) and Josh Uhen (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 K) provided the relief.

Erceg homers in 6-3 loss to Wood Ducks

The Mudcats fell into a 1-1 series tie after losing 6-3 on Thursday night

By Carolina Mudcats | July 14, 2017 12:21 AM ET

Jordan Yamamoto (4 1/3 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 4 K) sat through a rain delay and came back but maybe he shouldn't have done so. Scott Grist (4 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 5 K) allowed an inherited run to score and couldn't hold down the Wood Ducks for the remainder of his day. Brad Kuntz pitched the final 2/3 of an inning yielding one hit.

Lucas Erceg (2-4, 2B, HR) was about the only highlight at the plate. Jake Gatewood was 1-3 and drove in a run. Trent Clark reached twice with a hit and a walk in 5 trips to the plate.

Wisconsin Box Score

The evolution of 22-year-old 2016 5th round RHP Zack Brown has been fun to follow (and hear about via multiple prior postgame podcasts). And you just saw the recent statistical trend from Brown in the game summary linked above.

Six doubles and the Wes Wilson HR among Wisconsin's 11 hits. Mix in six walks, an HBP (and again no errors), and Manager Matt Erickson has reason to smile on consecutive nights.

Catching a team at the right time -- the Loons have been outscored 61-17 during their seven-game losing streak, with the Rattlers inflicting the pain the last two nights.

Wisconsin Game Log

Two three-run innings, a two run-frame, and a single tally, it's all good...

Final: Idaho Falls 7, Helena 2

Chukars Top Brewers

Ten walks too much for Brewers to overcome

Yeah, the walks make for a bit of a cringe or two along the way during the read...

***

Helena Box Score

RHP's Michael Petersen and Karsen Lindell are both third-year players, so the continued lack of command is a concern. Keep working, guys...

Helena Game Log

3rd round pick K.J. Harrison out of Oregon State made his defensive debut after his first two pro games were as the designated hitter. Notably, he did start behind the plate as the Milwaukee brass advertised he would. Idaho Falls baserunners were successful on all three stolen base attempts, but as we know, part of that responsibility falls on the pitchers as well. The two baserunners who stole the bases are now a combined 20-for-23 on the season.
