Brewers Acquire LHP Tyler Webb for Garrett Cooper

More likely they are shopping Hader than thinking about putting him in the rotation. Just food for thought. Webb could be pen insurance and more importantly Hader replacement insurance. Just a possibility in the craziness of trading season.

I doubt Hader is being shopped and I doubt he is moving to the rotation. This just allows Hader to pitch more multi-inning games and still have a lefty. If they wanted him to start they could have easily done that and used Suter in the same role.
but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

I don't think they're doing either tbh. There's room for more than one lefty in the bullpen, I'd imagine he simply takes Scahill's spot.

Like the pick-up of a LHP, but hate hate hate giving up Cooper for him.

Aguilar for Seattle's Paxos would have made more sense.

Does seem to point to the Crew keeping Suter in the rotation especially if he holds up. Perhaps in Guerra's spot if Guerra doesn't improve from 2017?

Relievers are a dime a dozen...giving up Cooper is a mistake in my opinion...This might block Wang even more, who I think is actually better than Webb...Can't wait to see how Webb does in Colorado Springs.

Completely agree. If Cooper gets a true shot, he might be the real deal. Nothing wrong with Wang either.

@BrewerWorld: Adding another LHP (Webb) makes sense as Brewers are actively shopping Hader.

This guy is a parody account, not a reliable source at all for anything other than humor

I wouldn't go as far as saying Brewers are actively shopping Hader, but I bet his name comes up every time Stearns asks about a quality controllable starter.

in all honestly he is blocked. id rather do a move like this rather than something like the Will Smith last season (from the Giants perspective) pitching is expensive, so i think any trade for a starter or reliever, the brewers will give up something of value.

i am OK with this. i though wish they would just have kept him out of CS, and brought him up right away to help.

I'm fine with this, Aguilar was pretty much in the same spot not too long ago being a veteran minor leaguer who has never really been given a chance in the bigs. Aguilar has proven he can hit big league pitching and is just as controllable as Cooper so might as well keep the guy that has proven something and trade the other for something of need. I am curious what they think of Wang though.

I'm pretty much at this. For those who pay a bit more attention: did Cooper still play a bit of OF and is a good defensive 1B? The only way you really downgrade here is if Cooper hits like Aguilar but is a better defender because given Aguilar's build he should probably be a DH.

Yea, it's too bad in a way, but there's just no room for Cooper. They would have needed to add him to the 40 next year. Keep in mind part of the plan moving forward at some point could be Braun or Santana moving to 1B either full time or part time.

So as long as they had to move him, I'm just glad it's for a pitcher- relief pitcher or not. Not sure this has anything to do with Wang, plenty of room for more than one LHP.

I've quietly rooted for Garret Cooper over the past couple of years, but I think it's pretty obvious that there isn't room for him at the major league level. Thames and Aguilar have been very productive - there just wasn't an opening in the near future for Cooper. Hopefully, this gives him a chance to play on the big stage.

Don't know anything about Webb other than looking at his stats. He has been a nice and consistent performer in his career - mid-3.00 ERA reliever. If he can bring that to the big leagues, it's a nice addition.

Good luck to Cooper.
