If we don't end up with eith Young or Weeks, I swear I'll lock myself in a room for a good couple of hours and just scream before I come back to reality. Harvey is nice but imo Weeks and definately Young are the much superior prospects.

I'm with ya man. Its been just going so long, since January that I've had my eyes on this draft. If it comes out we take a Stauffer or a Sleeth (both by the way keep getting mentioned in the MJS by D.O.) I seriously will become a Cubs fan. There is no way that we could pass on Young or Weeks

Guys before you freak out, consider this...

How many times has Drew Olson seen any of these prospects play? ZERO (I know it is zero live for an absolute fact as a family member is his colleague).

Drew Olson has watched a lot of baseball. I don't dispute that, however that is not to suggest that he is a revered talent scout.

How many times have we (this board) seen Weeks, Young, Stauffer, or Sleeth? I would venture to say a grand total of 3 games? Is that enough to make an assessment? No.

I would love to see a position player in the worst way as I think we are void of corner outfield prospects (DJ Clark getting close), we have no 3rd base prospects (At 6-6, I think Hart is too big), we are devoid of catching prospects, and our middle infield spots after Hardy are not strong (particularly with Murray's auspicous debut), however the draft is a crapshoot. Look at Harrington thread above, he was offered a five spot by the Rockies meaning they viewed him as very close to a sure thing and now what is he doing? Nothing. I'd prefer a batsman, but our system is weak on arms as well. We have about 3-5 bonafide MLB starter candidates within 2-3 years, guys that have big time stuff and 5-10 that are soft tossing overachievers that will likely flame out (see Mieses). If Melvin likes Stauffer, great, if Jack K likes Sleeth, great it would go against the grain a bit but is not the biggest reach ever.

Melvin has a proven track record for finding big time bats in the draft. Look at the offense in Texas? Young, Texiera, and Blalock all drafted by Melvin.. If he goes pitching it may be because they feel they can find some big time hitters down the line.

Lastly, to suggest that Olson has the complete trust of the Brewer brain trust to be given key information when they are clearly not wanting to reveal their preference for the sake of gamesmanship and finances is foolish. Olson is being given what Melvin/Payne want him to know and that must be taken with a grain of salt.

That being said, my order of preference:

1. Weeks

2. Young

3. Harvey

4. Stauffer/Sleeth

based on media perception, position and their scouting reports.

I will jump for joy if the Brewers pass on Young/ Weeks http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I know this is just a pipe dream; the Brewers would be foolish not to select whichever one Tampa doesn't.

Stupid draft format ...
