Brewers Ballpark Pass

If anyone else has a sudden outbreak of Brewer Fever like I do, I thought this might interest them.

http://m.mlb.com/brewers/tickets/info/ballpark-pass

Pretty wicked deal. I believe that there are 13 home games in both August and September so that comes up to like $2.30 per game!!!!

I think if I were a season ticket holder already for the Brewers, this type of deal being offered might kind of piss me off though.

Thoughts?

I agree that these fans will likely find a seat somewhere in Miller Park for all remaining home games.

I think this promotion really shows that the Brewers are desperately interested in increasing their concession stand revenue.

Funny thing is, there are many fans that will STILL stand in line for hours to get a $1 Uecker ticket for every game, rather than pay the extra $1.30 per ticket to take advantage of this deal.

:laughing

I would do this if I was younger but with a family of 4 I don't think I could even do this because from what I can tell every fan needs an account and you can't just buy 4. Also with it being standing room only it is kind of a hassle. I can deal with sitting in the terrace but don't want to deal with people telling me I am in their seat or an usher asking for my ticket. They should assign a seat with a possible exclusion for Cubs games. I can't imagine even 1,000 people will buy this.

I buy Uecker seats maybe once or twice a year..... Why would I pay the whole fee this deal is asking for? $1 or $2 total compared to $30 a month?

The Uecker line moves WAY quicker than any other line. An hour? More like 5, 10 minutes.

When I see ticket offers like this, I can't help but think that they will only appeal to a certain segment of loyal fan/bargain hunter that doesn't really need courting.

If we are going to give tickets away at less than $5 per game, the marketing should target families and lower-income groups. Most of that potential market will never be aware of these kind of offers.

I'm always surprised at the amount of people I go to Brewers games with that refuse to sit in an open seat (even for a half inning) that they don't have the ticket for.

For these people, they ABSOLUTELY CRINGE AT THE THOUGHT OF BEING ASKED FOR THEIR TICKET BY AN USHER.

They have an unbelievable amount of anxiety over even the remote possibility of it happening, it seems.

For some reason, it doesn't brother me one bit. :) I just politely leave the seat. No harm/No foul

Anyone else have this same experience with folks?

I am that folks, lol.

Part of it for me, beyond the remote possibility of an usher actually kicking you out of the game for it, is having the person that actually paid for the seats show up and putting them in a position to deal with someone sitting in their seats. I'm not big into awkward interactions with people and I hate the thought of putting someone else in that spot. So I'm unable to get comfortable and enjoy the game if I'm concerned about that the whole time. I'd much rather just buy the seats I want to sit in and enjoy the game.

That explanation makes sense.

I've had people sitting in the seats I've paid for many times when I arrived at them. Never got upset or thought it was awkward. When I say "hey, I think you're in my seats" the folks just smile, get up and leave. I would just smile back at them and then sit down.

We're all in this together, man.

I agree with you. People who have no problem sitting in other's seats don't take this into account. There are people that attend games who hate these interactions so much that they would rather go find other seats than confront people sitting in the seats that belong to them.

If I even attempt this, I always pick the back of a section that was obviously not completely sold.

That way, you won't be in someones seats that paid for them.

Your only risk is dealing with an Usher with "Mall Cop False Over-Confidence Authority Syndrome" deciding to bounce you from the section.

I have a problem with it too. You have a ticket for a seat, not MY seat. True, most of the time it's no big deal. But there have been a couple times where they were jerks about it, and once when they had to move down the aisle and were whispering and looking over at us the rest of the game. Sure, just don't let it bother you. I just don't need that crap.

Lambeau is even worse. Every, and I mean EVERY game I attend there are people in our seats. Some don't have their ticket, some don't even know they're at a Packer game, and I've had to go get an usher more than once.

Very simple folks, sit where you're supposed to sit. Once the game gets going for a while and you can clearly see an area is empty, have at it. Oh, and don't wear another team's hat. ; )

Yes, thank you. I hate it when somebody sits in my seat because even though I'm right and I paid for that seat, you always get that one person (or more) giving you the look of just go find someplace else to sit. That's not the way it works. I paid for this seat for a reason, because it's where I want to sit.

I actually double check my section, row and seat number just to make sure I'm not accidentally in the wrong section or row or whatever just to avoid that awkward conversation.

The absolute worst thing though and this has happened to me more than once is people who don't know how to read their sections, row or seat number and come up to me and act like I'm in their seat and then I have to explain that I'm in the seat I paid for and then they try to argue with me and I have to waste my time and get out my ticket and show them that I'm in the right section, row and seat.

No, I'm an enigma. I hate it when fans just sit quietly. I stand and yell on 3rd down! In fact, I wish MP wad more like County Stadium and the BC wad mote like Mecca. Fans were more into the games back then! Just stay out of my seat and we'll have a good time!

I was at the game Sunday and there was nearly a fight because some people were in the wrong seats. The usher was great and calmed things down pretty quickly, but it certainly distracted me and others from what was going on in the game. I'm in the group that thinks people should sit in the seats they paid for.

No, it's behavioral economics. They've done studies where people can get a generic store-brand chocolate for free or a high-end expensive chocolate for one cent. Most people choose the generic store brand chocolate.

People irrationally overvalue things that are free or cheap.

I have met more people that elect to just sit right next to me(or group) than that kick me out. Actually I have never been asked to leave seats by the people who have them. I don't commonly sit in people's seats and when I do it is NOT on the field level. It is the terrace or in the bleachers. I also avoid the first couple rows to be virtuous to people who spend money to get them. I usually sit in the same section I have tickets for.

Calm down these people will frequent the terrace. Let's not have a cow over $8 ticket sections. There is plenty of room for everyone to have a good view of the field.

I am the complete opposite, I almost always walkup and buy the cheapest terrace reserve seats they've got, or go to stubhub on the app. Yet I haven't actually been north of the lodge level in years. One time even had bleacher seats that were actually cheapest on stubhub that day and were getting hassled for a few innings by idiot fans because we were sitting a few seats over (I didn't want to make the family next to us move that were sitting in our seats) so we went down to field level and sat four rows back for the rest of the game. I love moving around and usually get great seats for the last four innings or so after people start leaving early. This deal is perfect for me.

I buy tickets where I want to watch the game from, so I have no problem asking others to move. If I go to a different seat it's right next to mine so there is more room for everyone. I stopped buying cheap tickets and looking for better seats once I became an adult.

Exactly the same for me.

I don’t think you meant this as a slight… but it kind of sounds like you are suggesting to those that do this that it is a juvenile behavior and that is dangerous territory. Are we telling me people how to enjoy games now?

I am absolutely a ballpark roamer when I go to games. Part of the fun of it for my brother and I is to get a 360 view of the field throughout the day. Even though I’ve been to Miller Park countless numbers of times, I still like watching from behind the plate as well as down the lines and into the outfield bleachers. I love the different views. It doesn’t make sense for me, on any level, to buy a $40+ ticket if I am going to be wandering around AND then there is an empty seat closer to the field and that isn’t a good look either for the team.

If I lived closer to Milwaukee I’d be all over this deal. For me it isn’t about being cheap and trying to get free upgrades … it is simply getting into the atmosphere at a price that is reasonable for someone who is there to take in the entire ballpark. I’m still patronizing the concession stands like you and, most importantly, I’m cheering for the correct team. There is room in the stadium for all personalities, I wouldn’t talk down to any of them, we are all putting money into the same pot.

With that said, If I do sit down for an inning or more in a different section I am cognizant of where I am and like someone else said I’m not going to take the best seats that are there out of respect for who paid for them. Likewise, I will have waited for a while to make sure they are empty seats and I’m very polite if someone ever does show that is supposed to be there.

There are different ways to watch a game. I think this deal is just a tip of the cap to those of us who do it a bit differently. I don’t think it is meant as a slight to anyone else.

That's great that we have a couple of adults on these forums.

Question: Do either of you have families that you buy nice seats for?

For starters, nice seats are anything lower than the Terrace Level and not in the Bleachers, IMO.

I just checked the cheapest "nice seats" for an upcoming series against the last place Phillies.

Loge outfield box= $40 each.

Family of Four with ticket fees and parking would cost about $200.

If you add in a meal or other in-game expenses your are talking about $300 to take a family of four to a Brewers game and sit in "nice seats".

Wisconsin volleyball (of all things!) is kind of like this. Season ticket holders get assigned seats in the center sideline sections and the rest of the Field House is general admission seating. A few years ago, UW started putting bumpersticker labels on the season ticket seats, with the names of the ticket holders. But we still regularly (though not every time) find people with general admission seats wandering into our section. DO YOU NOT SEE THE NAMES ON THE SEATS?

Having said all this...if we didn't already have two 20-packs in locations we really like, I'd totally consider one of these $30/month things. That way if a specific night is super humid/stormy/otherwise yucky conditions that won't postpone the game, but will make driving or sitting through it a pain, I wouldn't feel like we were out $50-$70 per pair of tickets missed. I'd just wait for the next game.

The ticketing section of the Brewers' website allows you to view the seat map*, so you could theoretically find unsold seats (barring the possibility of a late walkup sale) and feel less likely to be in an awkward spot with other fans or an usher. Since you need the Ballpark app to make this ticket deal work, you could also upgrade your seat more legitimately (as needed).

*Though the seat map uses Flash, so it can't be viewed on an Apple mobile device.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I agree it is dangerous territory however yes the Brewers do already tell you how to enjoy games. They tell you to sit in only your assigned seat and announce this before and during the game. They are now selling these standing room seats for cheap and they likely know people are not going to stand around all day and will end up sitting in seats that don't belong to them. To me they are being hypocritical.
