Carlos Herrera, one of the other pieces in the Lind trade, in a small sample so far in 21 IP has given up 16 hits, walked 5, and struck out 26. The five HRs dampens that a bit, but he's 19, going on 20 in October.

Mudcats fall 5-1 in front of sellout crowd of 6,959

Carolina snapped a four game winning streak with the loss

By Carolina Mudcats | July 4, 2017 11:31 PM ET

The Mudcats were limited to 4 hits and 1 run in this game. Trey Supak (5 1/3 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 2 K) started and took the loss. Quintin Torres-Costa (2 2/3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K) followed Supak but allowed 2 inherited runners to score. Scott Grist (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K) finished out the game for Carolina.

Jake Gatewood (1-3, 2B, Sacrifice Fly) and Troy Stokes Jr (1-3, 2B, BB, Run) led the offence. Monte Harrison sat out the game against a left handed starter. Cooper Hummel, who is batting .067 going into this game against left handers, got the start at catcher.

Colorado Springs Box Score

So glad you read Robby's outstanding summary so that you already know about Kyle Wren's four stolen bases, how smoking hot not only Lewis Brinson is, but also Brett Phillips, and how Tim Dillard gets a start today. And yes, kudos, Nick Noonan, 1000 minor league hits, but more proud of his 28 big league knocks.

Seven-and-a-third innings of three-run relief after a really rough return-to-action start by Hiram Burgos.

AZL Indians 13, AZL Brewers 12

AZL Brewers Boxscore

The Baby Brewers built an early 5-1 lead, found themselves down 12-5 after 6 innings, and then couldn't quite climb all the way back as they lose for just the second time in nine games.

The offense was paced by Kenny Corey, Julian Jarrard, and Moises Perez, each of whom had three hits. All three of Corey's hits were doubles, and one of Jarrard's was as well. Pat McInerney hit his 3rd home run of the year, which tied him for the league lead.

Drake Owenby made his third start for the club and made it through 2 1/3 innings before being pulled presumably for hitting a pitch limit. He's not officially rehabbing, but that would seem to be what he's doing. AZL games do not track pitch count, so it's a little difficult to know how far along said pitch count is. Young Michael Gonzalez took the brunt of the damage, surrendering 8 runs in 2/3 of an inning.

AZL Brewers Game Log

Things go south:

AZL Indians Bottom of the 6th

Defensive Substitution: Alexandre Guenette replaces catcher Johan Mojica, batting 7th, playing catcher.

Pitching Change: Michael Gonzalez replaces Branden Nunn.

Jose Fermin out on a sacrifice bunt, catcher Alexandre Guenette to first baseman Moises Perez. Felix Fernandez to 3rd. Michael Cooper to 2nd.

Wilbis Santiago out on a sacrifice fly to left fielder Kenny Corey. Felix Fernandez scores.

Quentin Holmes doubles (2) on a ground ball to left fielder Kenny Corey. Michael Cooper scores.

Tyler Freeman doubles (1) on a ground ball to left fielder Kenny Corey. Quentin Holmes scores.

Tre Gantt walks.

Mitch Reeves doubles (1) on a fly ball to left fielder Kenny Corey. Tyler Freeman scores. Tre Gantt scores.

Ronny Dominguez doubles (2) on a fly ball to left fielder Kenny Corey. Mitch Reeves scores.

Felix Fernandez homers (2) on a fly ball to left field. Ronny Dominguez scores.

Pitching Change: Jake Smith replaces Michael Gonzalez.
