It was really tough to tell on replay. It looked like the ball hit off the top of the scoreboard, not the padding. So bouncing that far is reasonable.

One replay you could hear it hit, so I'm assuming from that noise it hit the top of the scoreboard at least, and probably hit the yellow padding just above which would have sent it back into play.
