I missed it, what did Puig do this time? Some people wanted that clown on our team?

You say that like keeping Braun has so clearly been the right choice, who could be argued is just as unlikable, just in different ways. There were probably many Dodger fans last August making the same argument as you that they didn't want Braun because they want nothing to do with him.

Anyway, Puig is a punk, but there's absolutely nothing to this other than the Mets whining because they're losing games. There's nothing there that hasn't been done many times without incident.

It's also so ironic that Cespedes would lecture Puig on the right ways to play the game.

Arcia has seen 5 pitches through 3 at bats.

A very costly thing he does often. It doesn't show up in value based stats, but such short ABs really hurt the team. Someone else in recent memory was prone to short ABs too. Someone mentioned in another thread the high pitch counts Knebel racks up and that is another costly thing that many don't notice. If it costs him a few outings every month that can translate into an extra loss or more because someone lesser has to pitch because he needs rest. That or he gets fatigued and pitches worse.

Sogard still hitting well. When Villar gets back I wonder what CC will do.

Gotta think he sticks with mostly Sogard, but still gives Villar a good amount of starts. I'd say let Villar have some SS time too, but Arcia has stepped it up in recent weeks.

I remember Yuni never seeing a lot of pitches. Also, I don't buy the Knebel thing. He is averaging less than 18 pitches per inning.

Arcia sees an average of 3.51 pitcher per at bat. That ranks 150 out of 162 qualified hitters in the majors.

Ranked at #161 is Hernan Perez.

We should note that being low on the list doesn't necessarily make you bad. Jose Altuve is #155. Daniel Murphy is #152. So there are some good players who are very aggressive.

Someone pulled up the stats and Knebel throw the second most pitches for a closer. Not saying 18 is terrible, but it is up there for an ever age.

Yum was the worst. Not only did he swing first pitch, but he popped it up what felt like once a game at least.

That was some poor baserunning by Santana.

No it was just being lazy.

Well, he was sure it was a homerun. I guess you could say he was being lazy for not sliding just in case, but I don't see many guys sprinting full speed and sliding into home on homeruns. The confusing thing was it didn't seem like *anyone* was signaling him to pick it up or get down or anything.

Doesn't matter. He should be running hard until he's stopped or an umpire calls homerun and no one called it. That's a high school mistake and shouldn't happen in the majors.

I pulled those stats. I only took the top 8 closers in terms of saves … I didn’t look at the other 20+ guys. I don’t care to do the math on everyone else but I’m guessing Knebel is middle of the pack if not slightly above average if compared to every closer.
