2017-06-20: Pirates (Kuhl) at Brewers (Davies) 6:40 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 7-3]

Really? The Brewers are holding a number for Jim Ganter. How stupid.

As in retiring it?!? Umm wow isnthr Brewers history pathetic and shame on the current group to not realize how pathetic that is.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Not retiring it, just not giving it to anyone.

Still ridiculous.

Showed a little life in the 6th. But couldn't get a big inning. Still some time for a comeback.

After seeing another extra base hit from a hot Broxton, I'm not sure why he wasn't starting tonight.

Might as well have put him on the bump.

Every manager has to fall in love with a crappy player and Franklin is Craig's crush this year.

Davies earning himself a trip to the minors.

Yeah, I've been trying to understand among the criticism of Peralta and how much Garza "sucks", why Davies has been immune so far.

Most likely because Peralta has always been terrible and Garza was total crap the last two years. Davies at least had a good year last year after his first few starts.

I still shocked with this current roster that we are still in First

What's more amazing is how far in first they could be with a halfway competent bullpen.

That's just it. If you look at the big picture, this is a terrible team that is somehow over 500 let alone in first. The poster children are Sogard and Shaw. Two journeyman scrap heap types who are playing like All Stars. I can't see how they can be consider contenders with the roster they have, but the reality is if they had any kind of real closer they would be a serious threat.

Baseball is a crazy game because the analytics says our guys should be contending for last place with the Reds based on career norms, and the Cubs should be in front of this division by 10 games.

Shaw is a journeyman? Interesting. It can be challeging to take anything someone says seriously if they speak in hyperbole.

Davies was good last year, he's young. I'm fine with him getting a longer leash to figure things out. Its still a rebuild and its still time to let young prospects figure things out. Its the 30+ year old relievers i have no patience with, they either have it or ship them out.

In no world is Shaw a journeyman. He was a somewhat regarded prospect who's played reasonably well in the bigs and was traded because the Red Sox thought Sandoval was back to his old self and they have a top 3B prospect in AAA.

Exactly.

The frustrating thing about Davies is that he's mostly fine. But he seems to have one inning every game that gets away from him, giving up 3-4 runs (In this case 6...) and running up the pitch count. Before and after that though he looks like 2016 Zach Davies again.

If Garza was total crap last year (4.49 xFIP, .07 fWAR/GS), then what was Davies (3.94 xFIP, 0.1 fWAR/GS), partial crap? A small turd?
