Unique that Cleveland's DSL kids will be facing each other today and Monday.

The Sky Sox (38-27) have been great, but Oklahoma City and the strong Dodgers' squad comes into town only two games back (no split standings at AAA).

Happy Birthday to two farmhands, who we're not quite sure of their status --

RHP Tyler Spurlin, 26 today, was assigned to Helena's roster on April 6th. He has yet to make his minor league debut, but the sidearming Spurlin did see action in spring training, including one game in big league camp

LHP Blake Fox (2016 10th round, Rice) turns 24 today, has yet to see action above Helena

Biloxi Box Score

After three straight rainouts, the Shuckers came back cold, managing only five hits and one run in a 2-1 lose to Mobile.

Aaron Wilkerson was solid on the mound for the Shuckers, throwing 5.1 IP and allowing only two earned runs on seven hits and a walk. He would take the lose.

Offensively, the Shuckers just could not get big base hits when needed. They were 1-6 with runners in scoring position. Javier Betancourt (2-3, 2B) lead Biloxi’s offense with a pair of hits. Johnny Davis (1-2, BB) also got on base twice.

Biloxi Game Log

Biloxi had a chance to do some damage in the 5th inning when they got two runners on with only one out. But Mauricio Dubon struck out and Dustin DeMuth grounded out to end the opportunity.

Shortstop Victor Maria and centerfielder Pablo Abreu each finished 2-for-5 with a double while Bryan Connell added a single and two walks. 17-year-old Elian Gonzalez, who made his debut as a pinch-runner yesterday, got his first start and went 0-for-4 with a walk as the team's leadoff hitter.

Shuckers lose second game of double header, 6-3

Jorge Lopez walks five in lose

Biloxi Box Score

Jorge Lopez took the brunt of the damage for Biloxi in the second game of a double header with the Mobile BayBears. The Shuckers were defeated 6-3, with Lopez giving up five runs in 5.2 innings of work. His control was clearly not there as he surrendered six hits and walked five while taking lose. He is now 3-6 with a 5.40 ERA for the season.

The Shuckers managed three runs despite only getting five hits. Michael Choice (2-4), Jacob Nottingham (1-2, 2B, BB) and Wendell Rijo (1-2, 2B, BB) were the top bats for the Shuckers.

Supak allows two home runs in 5-2 twin bill opening loss

Friday's suspended game was finished on Saturday and featured a two hour and six minute delay

By Carolina Mudcats | June 17, 2017 8:42 PM ET

Trey Supak (6 1/3 IP, 4 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 6 K) continued the game from Cody Ponce, who went two hitters yesterday before the game was suspended. Supak had command issues pretty much the whole game which has characterized him the entire time he has spent with Carolina. Here he was hurt by 2 gopher balls. Brad Kuntz worked 2 innings in relief yielding one run.

Luis Aviles went 3-4 and Carlos Belonis went 2-4. Corey Ray had one of his down games (0-4, 3 K) but did make some nice catches in center field.

Sox Drop Series Opener

Nieuwenhuis has three-hit night as division lead shrinks to one game

By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox

Robby kept it brief, thankfully it seems.

Forrest Snow, not Brent Suter (who starts Sunday), got the opening nod, and all seven men Snow retired were via strikeout. Unfortunately, he also allowed six hits, including two home runs, a walk, and six runs.

Brett can be spectacular but erratic:

FIELDING

E: Phillips, B (5, throw).

Outfield assists: Phillips, B (Freeman at home).

Colorado Springs Box Score

Nick Noonan had a pinch-hit double in his Springs return (see our transaction post from Friday evening).

The Sky Sox will need to make a roster move when Suter's return from his Milwaukee option is official on Sunday. Gotta love minor league player movement, Colorado Springs' roster went from 21 to 26 in a matter of days.

Kane County Closes in on Playoff Spot with 14-2 Win over Wisconsin

Wisconsin Boxscore

Wisconsin just keeps getting beat up. They've gone from a couple of games over .500 to 15 games under .500 in the course of about 4 weeks. It remains to be seen if the Brewers will shake up their roster for the second half, or let the guys that are there try to get back on course. The pitching in particular has been disappointing. Of the 15 pitchers with at least 20 innings pitched, 11 have an ERA of 4.50 or worse.

I'll let you read Chris Mehring's recap again, and as Jim mentioned yesterday, he has the patience of a saint.
