Kids and Activities at Miller Park

My family and I have attended several games at MP, but this will be the first after adopting a child who is blind. Normally, we tailgate, watch the game, and go home.

 

But this time I'm considering going earlier and spending a bit more time with the other amenities at the park. I'm wondering what might be provide a hands-on experience at MP.

 

Also, I'm going to a day game. What seats are typically in the shade? My memory is saying third base side, but I might be remembering County Stadium too...

1B side is where the shade is at.

 

My favorite section when I lived back in Wisconsin was section 310 or 321 that area always has some shade. But the shade moves from the 1B/RF side over to 3B during day games. 3B side is in the sun for about the whole game during a day game depending on where you sit. If you sit closer to home plate it is not as bad but the closer you get to the OF the worse it gets.

 

The club infield boxes are rather nice and you can sometimes get them for less for day games for weekday games. They usually go for about 30-40 a seat officially they are $44 a seat for adults kids sometimes are cheaper.

Don't know about any amenities other than that kid's playground but the shaded seats are on the 1st base side.

The indoor kid areas I'm aware of are in the RF corner of the field level and home plate-ish area of the terrace. (Our childless household refers to the terrace play area as a kid Habitrail.) I have to admit I don't know how good a match the available activities are for someone who's blind. I believe the field level play area still has the huge glove in which people sit for photos. That would be hands-on for sure.

 

The big fiberglass Bernie statue (situated on a bench for photo ops) was moved to the center of the loge level, kind of behind the press box, for this season. That's sort of hands-on. There used to be fiberglass sausage statues near the RF corner of the field level; with the remodeling done last off-season, I don't know if that's still the case. The mascots (humans in costumes) are in the concourses at particular times and they are always posing for photos with fans.

 

When you arrive, you might ask at Guest Relations for further suggestions. There are booths on the field, loge and terrace levels, and the staff there have a wealth of information, some of it game-specific (for example, on a low attendance day, they know which concession stands are open vs closed).

 

Honestly, it's probably worth contacting the Brewers in advance. Their Miller Park A to Z guide encourages fans to "let us know how we can help you enjoy your game experience. Please call Guest Relations at (414) 902-4900." So take them up on that!

Contact the Brewers directly, every time I've had someone at a tailgate or anything along those lines who has needed special considerations, they have been absolutely wonderful with information as well as customer service.

Just a FYI for the terrace playground the child has to be 48 inches or less, they do measure. The fiberglass sausage statues are still there but further down the right field line. Again don't know the age of the child but my kids liked the Selig experience and hearing about the old Brewers.

Thanks. I wasn't going to bother with the playground. If we wanted that, we would go to a park. I was thinking more about baseball experiences. The fiberglass sausages, meeting Bernie, stuff like that would make an impression on her.

 

Meeting Bob Eucker would probably be wonderful. She has been able to recognize his voice for 3 years now.

 

FYI, she is 9 years old.
